On Tuesday Year 3 visited St Michael's Church for a topic-related RE Workshop on The Story of The Bible. Thank you to Mrs Constable for leading this.
In the evening it was a pleasure to welcome our new Reception parents who learned all about the process of being part of our wonderful school and it also gave them the opportunity to meet other parents in the year group.
On Wednesday morning our Year 1 and 2 pupils attended a musical tuition presentation to showcase all the many musical instrument options available to them when they have moved up to Year 3.
Well done to our Years 4, 5 and 6 pupils who took part in a special Tennis Skills Festival taking place at Southfields Academy this week too.
The Year 1 Assembly yesterday was nothing short of phenomenal! The children shared their learning with us all with such confidence and aplomb and considering they have never performed in front of their families - or the whole school - before they really were superstars! Well done to all the children and staff involved.
In the afternoon we were so proud to unveil the wonderful 'Garden of Wonder' to parents. See below for more on this.
Today is Mufti Day 3 - when the PTA will be collecting in items for the ... drumroll.... most popular day in the PTA calendar - The PTA Summer Fete! (More on this in their message below of course.)
I hope to see as many of you tomorrow as possible. If I'm not at my usual slot on the gate I will be enjoying visiting the many and varied stalls - I am particularly looking forward to pinning the tail on the corgi!
Next week:
.. is Sports Week! We have some exciting events planned throughout, including a visit from two GB athletes on Monday. Further details have been sent out on Parentmail. On Monday Year 5 are having a taster day at Saint Cecilia's School and we value highly our partnership with our local secondary school in order to provide an outstanding 'all through education' for the pupils in Southfields.
On Tuesday pm we look forward to welcoming our new Nursery parents to an evening event to learn about all things St Michael's and to meet other Mini St Mikes families.
There is a coffee morning for Middle and Upper Phase parents at 8.45 on Thursday morning and on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons we have our Reception taster afternoons taking place here in school.
So with just four weeks to go this term - and academic year - we are as busy as ever.

Grand Opening
We are very pleased to announce The Garden of Wonder is now officially open!
Many thanks to Helen Edie, Libby Brice and David Wood, who conceived the idea 3 years ago and to Mrs Harris and Jason who, with David, saw this project through to its completion.
Also, huge thanks to the families who generously donated 3 of our installations and our Eco Warriors who created the hanging bottle tops.
And thank you to children in 6K for thinking of such a perfect name.
Ordinary Available Provision:
This was presented at this week's coffee afternoon and is available to all children in education.
The document refers to the support that all Wandsworth schools, early years and post 16 settings should be able to provide for children/young people including those with additional educational needs and/or disabilities from within their own resources:
We are currently working on gaining an understanding of how our staff, parents and pupils understand Mental Health and Wellbeing at St Michael's school with a view to preparing a workshop or whole school meeting.
Our Mental Health Governor, Magda Harrison, has been conducting a wellbeing survey with our staff and we are now focusing on the pupils and our parents.
Next week you will receive a link to a survey and we would be grateful if you could kindly compete this by Friday 8th July.
Many thanks
ANGELA HARRIS, INCLUSION MANAGER
Our Church School:
"Pupils are inspired by RE and recognise it as a challenging but safe space to explore their own and others' religious, spiritual and philosophical convictions critically and responsibly"

Prayer and Reflection:
Next week's Gospel Value:
Reverence:
Reflections of the Heart:
Our God is an awesome God.
He is kind, tenderhearted, and merciful.
Our Father loves us with an everlasting love and He is always concerned about our welfare.
All that we need, He provides through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.
God should always be revered and adored.
He should have our utmost respect.
Today, bless the Lord.
Lift up your praises to the One who is the living God, our God who is our Father.
Supporting the Ukraine:
The school and local community continues to find ways to support the people affected by the events in the Ukraine...
Summer Holiday Camps for Ukranian Children:
24th July - 3rd September 2022
"Premier Inns are funding 20,000 places at fun, activity-filled Holiday Camps this summer - offering a respite for the thousands of Ukrainian children that have been displaced from their homes.
A summer of fun, with action-packed days of sport and activities, awaits children that get involved - it’s the perfect environment to make friends, develop new skills and build confidence, and every step is being taken to ensure that any language barriers are not an issue."
This is a drop in cafe aimed at enabling refugees, particularly those recently arrived from Ukraine, to meet each other.
Free light refreshments will be available in the Parish Room and the church will be open for prayer and reflection.
Children are welcome and there is outside garden space.
PE News:
PE this half term
This half term for PE we are doing athletics. Children in year 1-6 have been learning the different events that will be taking place on house day and doing qualifiers in each house. The medal events they have been qualifying for are 60 metres, 300 metres, standing long jump and shot put. They are allowed to do one track event and one field event and some houses have decided to be more inclusive and share the event between them. I have been really impressed with the way the children have approached qualifying and how they have supported each other. There has been a lot of determination and resilience shown by the children especially in the 300 metres.
Sitting Volleyball and Year 5 District Football :
Last week 6 of year 6 children took part in the London Youth Games sitting volleyball competition. They lost their first game then won the rest of the group games finishing at the top. We then lost to the second place in the final and got a silver medal meaning we are second place out of the whole of London. This is an amazing achievement and tops my highest finish of bronze at a London Youth Games event and all credit goes to the children who were amazing and worked so well as a team.
The year 5 football team also represented St Michael's at the Wandsworth District football tournament. They drew 1-1 with the eventual winners in the group stage and after getting beat in the semi-final they won a bronze medal in the 3rd and 4th playoff. Once again our children were amazing and represented themselves, their families and our school so well.
Tennis Festival:
This Wednesday 7 of year 4 children went to the panathlon tennis festival and came back with beaming smiles having finished in 4th place and showing their amazing medals. Well done to the children attending this amazing event and showing how fantastic you are.
