We hope you continue to enjoy our series of open afternoons ("Celebration of Learning") as a chance to view your child's work and their classroom environment. It's been a busy week for Year 5. In between rehearsing for the Jubilee Service (more on this below) they took part in a Big Foot workshop on their English topic of 'Romeo and Juliet' on Wednesday. And this afternoon they are visiting the local allotments.

3H had a great day out at the Tate Gallery on Wednesday and as always the feedback on their behaviour and the way they showcased St Michael's was as strong as ever. Well done 3H.

Yesterday we were treated to a wonderful Eid Assembly led by Mrs Sheikh and a crew of her able helpers. The presentation and the costumes were all stunning and we feel very lucky to be part of such a diverse and multifaith community.

In the afternoon we had an ad hoc drill and I'm proud to report that the whole school was evacuated within 2 minutes and by 3 minutes 45 seconds everyone was safely on the school field. Well done all involved - especially Mini St Mikes who were sensible little stars!

We have been invited to contribute some of our Jubilee Artwork creations to a special book that our local MP is planning on taking to her forthcoming meeting with Her Majesty the Queen at Buckingham Palace.

In PE this week KS2 have been learning about shot placement and fielding tactics to make it difficult for the batter to score runs. In KS1 the children have been learning about attacking and defensive shots in cricket and how to hold the bat. They also compared batting in cricket and rounders. Please continue to practice all the skills with the children when you have time.

After the gold medal in the sitting volleyball last week we have been invited to represent Wandsworth at the London Youth Games on 16th June. Well done to everyone involved and the children involved will receive letters in due course.

10 of our year 3 children attended a tennis festival organised by Wandsworth School Games and All Star Tennis. Well done to the children for representing the school so well and most importantly having fun playing some tennis.

Thank you to those who joined us for our half termly PTA meeting on Tuesday night. As you’ve previously read, we have had some great events this year which has helped us currently be ahead of our budgeted fundraising target. This is an amazing result as we move into the final term of this year. As always, the meeting minutes are on the PTA website and please get in touch if you have any questions or would like any further information.

Next Friday we have a cake sale, getting everyone ready for the jubilee parties!! We have had two volunteers for the positions needing filling for the fete and thank those people. Next week we are working on the advertising boards kindly sponsored by D&G Real Estate. Once again we will only need to know if you can no longer host a board or are able to have one when you previously haven’t. Details will be released next week.
