It’s been a wonderful start to the summer term here at St. Michael’s. The children have settled back into school life beautifully and it’s been great to see their energy, smiles and readiness to learn. We truly appreciate everything you do to support this, especially in ensuring that children arrive on time and dressed smartly in their uniform. These seemingly small things help set a positive tone for the day and make a big difference.
This week, we’ve begun exploring the Fruit of the Spirit in our worship and learning. These qualities, such as love, joy, peace, and kindness, are key to how we grow not only as individuals, but as a community with a clear foundation of care and respect. We’ve connected this learning to the British Value of 'mutual respect', as well as our growth mindset focus on 'reflection', helping children to think deeply about their actions and how they learn from them. We’ve also been considering Article 29 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child: “Education must develop every child’s personality, talents, and abilities to the fullest.” This underpins all that we do at St. Michael’s, and the Fruit of the Spirit provides a beautiful framework for nurturing not just intellect, but character and heart.
Starting on Monday, we’ll be exploring the first Fruit of the Spirit 'Love' at the church. This ties in perfectly with the first of our school values: Love, Serve, Grow. It’s a timely reminder of the importance of kindness, compassion, and putting others first.
There’s plenty to look forward to next week as well! Reception are excited to welcome Zoolab, who will be bringing some fascinating creatures into school, and I’m very much looking forward to joining Year 1 on their visit to Windsor Castle on Friday—it promises to be a day full of wonder and discovery.
We end our week with this reminder from Galatians 5:22-23:
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.”
These are the qualities we hope to see blossom in every child as they grow through their time with us.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
Have a restful weekend
