Love – Showing kindness, respect, and care for one another, as God loves us.
Serve – Following Jesus’ example by putting others before ourselves and making a difference.
Grow – We strive to improve and become the best versions of ourselves.
Message from Mrs Harris, Headteacher
As we reach the end of this half term, we want to pause and reflect on the many moments of learning, growth and togetherness we have shared as a school community. This term, our worship has focused on exploring the Fruit of the Spirit, helping the children to think deeply about how qualities such as love, kindness, patience and self-control shape the way we live and learn together.
These reflections connect closely with our school vision to Love, Serve, Grow. We have seen pupils showing love through compassion and friendship, serving others through helpful actions and teamwork and growing in character as well as in learning. It has been wonderful to watch these values come alive in daily school life.
Next half term, we will continue exploring more aspects of the Fruit of the Spirit, while also turning our attention to the season of Lent and the journey toward Easter — a time that invites reflection, hope and renewal. We look forward to sharing this meaningful journey with the children.
A verse that has guided our thinking this half term comes from Galatians:
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” Galatians 5:22–23
This verse reminds us that these qualities are not just ideas — they are lived out through our choices and actions. When we practise them, we help create a community where everyone feels valued, supported, and able to flourish.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support this half term. We wish you and your family a restful, peaceful and enjoyable break and we look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed for the next stage of our journey together.
Have a lovely half term.
Best wishes
Mrs Harris

We have had a very special Wellbeing Week in school, working alongside children’s mental health and wellbeing charity, Place2Be. This year’s theme is, “This is Our Place”, centred around the importance of belonging and celebrating what makes our school community so special.
We began with a whole-school worship last Friday, led beautifully by our Wellbeing Ambassadors, and were delighted to welcome our Wellbeing Governor, Mrs Williams, who joined us for this special occasion.
Throughout the week, pupils have taken part in a range of thoughtful and creative activities designed to help them feel valued, heard and connected within our school community. These have included:
Connecting Circles, giving children the opportunity to listen and share in a supportive environment.
Creating a class jigsaw, exploring and celebration who we are and belong.
Designing personal “islands” in art, reflecting what makes each of us unique.
Dedicated PSHE sessions focused on belonging and wellbeing.
Creativity has been at the heart of the week. Every child contributed to a whole-school collaborative artwork inspired by our school values of Love, Serve and Grow. Each class added to the giant collage, which will soon be proudly displayed in our school library. I’m sure you will agree - it looks fantastic!
The whole school also worked together to create a collaborative poem, inspired by what makes us St Michael’s.
Please follow the LINK to read each class's contribution
The verses are a wonderful and thoughtful reflection of what makes our school such a special place - where everyone plays a role and everyone is welcomed, valued and celebrated.
As part of Wellbeing Week, we also marked Safer Internet Day, focusing on safer internet use, AI and safer technology. Pupils took part in a special worship, as well as a Primary Live lesson to reinforce the importance of staying safe online.
Wellbeing Week has been a wonderful opportunity to celebrate what makes St Michael’s such a caring and inclusive community. We are proud of the reflection, creativity and connection shown by our pupils, and we remain committed to ensuring every child feels that they truly belong.

Year 5 DT Visit to St Cecilia's:
Year 5 pupils visited St Cecilia last week to complete their DT project, where they made delicious samosas. They practised important cooking skills such as cutting and peeling safely, and grating ingredients.
After cooking, they placed their samosas into boxes that they designed and made themselves.

Year 6 WWII Day:
Year 6 stepped back in time on Thursday for a fantastic World War II morning! The children learnt the lively Lambeth Walk dance, designed and made their own gas masks, and even experienced rationing by preparing and tasting jam sandwiches.
It was a truly immersive experience that brought the era to life, helping the children understand what everyday life was like during the war. The costumes were absolutely amazing and really added to the atmosphere, making the whole morning feel authentic and memorable. It was an exciting and engaging way to deepen their learning!

Chinese New Year in Nursery:
Over the past two weeks, the nursery children have enjoyed learning about the Lunar New Year. They explored the story of the Great Race, created colourful decorations, and helped tidy and decorate the classroom to celebrate.
The children also worked brilliantly together to prepare a vegetable and noodle stir fry, which they thoroughly enjoyed eating and even asked for more. This week, we were very lucky to welcome two of our parents, who shared their knowledge of Lunar New Year by reading stories, teaching the children about their zodiac animal year, and helping them create firework pictures and classroom banners.
The children were also delighted to receive a red envelope with a gold coin for good luck.
We would like to say a special thank you to our parents for their continued support and for helping make these experiences so special for the children.

Year 2 Visit On Muslim Prayer:
Earlier this week we were visited by some special parents in Year 2. They helped us learn more about Muslim prayer.
We learned that Muslims pray together in brotherhood to show unity and love. We also learnt that peace, love and respect are at the heart of prayer.
What stuck with us most was understanding prayer is a way of showing love to God, especially when someone feels sad or lonely.
Thank you to our special visitors for helping us learn more about prayer.
Adele Stewart.
Year 2 Celebration of Learning:
Year 2 this morning shared our wonderful Celebration of Learning Assembly, confidently showcasing their work across English, History, Maths and Design & Technology.
The children performed The Owl and the Pussycat with enthusiasm and expression, demonstrated their knowledge of significant explorers, impressed the audience with their money skills in a lively “Coin Quest” maths game, and presented their healthy sandwich designs, explaining how they researched, designed, made and evaluated their products.
We are incredibly proud of the Year 2 team and the children’s dedication and effort.
Throughout the assembly, they showed the Fruit of the Spirit in action, demonstrating kindness as they supported one another, self-control as they spoke clearly and waited patiently for their turns, and patience as they worked together to prepare and practise.
It was a joyful celebration of learning, growth and teamwork. Well done, Year 2!

PE and Sport this half term
First of all I want to give a massive shout out to all the children for their resilience this half term. It has been a really wet half term which has made it very difficult to play netball and basketball but they have been amazing.
By the time this goes out all of KS2 will have played house tournaments for both netball and basketball and we will let them know the results in the new term.
The children have been learning about the similarities and differences in the two sports and transferring skills for the sports. The children have been doing apparatus gymnastics with Kick and applying different skills to the apparatus including rolls, flight, traveling, vault jumps and balancing.
A massive congratulations to our New Age Kurling team who won a gold medal at the Wandsworth School Games tournament. They were amazing representatives of our school community and we were super proud of them.
PE and Sport next half term
Next half term the children will be working on their tennis skills and learning about dance from around the world with Kick.
Our girls football team will be playing in the PPSSA league and our netball team will be taking part in the Wandsworth School games tournament. We wish them well.
We love having our Pets As Therapy dog Nelson visiting the children in the libary every week.
Pupil Voice Making a Difference!
This term, our Pupil Voice representatives have played an important role in shaping school life and ensuring that children’s views are heard.
During Wellbeing Week, School Council worked closely alongside our Wellbeing Ambassadors to share ideas and support activities designed to promote positive mental health across the school. Their thoughtful suggestions helped make the week meaningful, inclusive and enjoyable for everyone.
Pupil Voice members have also been involved in monitoring work in English and sharing their insights about learning. They spoke enthusiastically about the exciting “hooks” teachers have created at the start of new English units this term. From immersive experiences to mystery objects and dramatic role-play, the children have loved how these creative introductions have sparked curiosity and made them eager to write.
Meanwhile, our School Council have also shown fantastic leadership by leading a whole-school collaborative art project. Together, pupils created a giant collage celebrating our core values of Love, Serve and Grow. The finished piece is a vibrant and powerful reflection of our schools Christian values demonstrating our commitment to kindness, service and personal growth.
We are incredibly proud of how our pupils continue to take responsibility, share their ideas confidently and contribute positively to our school community.
