Dear Parents and Carers

Today is World Book Day and what a lot of wonderful book characters we are seeing around school, both from the children and the staff!  A round up of pictures is below!

We have continued this week with our focus on Lent and 40 Days of Kindness.  If you haven't already donated please do go onto Parentmail to pay £3 in support of our chosen charity 'Winston's Wish' - as nominated by the children themselves.    This is to cover World Book Day, Comic Relief and Disco Day.

On Tuesday Year 3 dressed up as Romans for their History Workshop - see below.

And as I write, once again the school is buzzing with families reading with their children to celebrate an extra special RFP to mark the end of Book Week.

Next Week:

There is a whole school coffee morning on Monday morning in the Hall from 8.45am-9.45am.  All are welcome to come and meet with the Senior Leadership Team, ask questions and generally find out what is happening in school!  It will also be available virtually and a link has already been sent out for this via parentmail.

After school on Tuesday we are reintroducing our very popular 'Let Girls Play' initiaive on the field at 3:30pm. All female family members are welcome to come along and take part!

On Wednesday there is a French Workshop taking place in school for Years 4 and 5 and of course it is Parents Evening on both Wednesday and Thursday.

Next week we will be collecting for Wandsworth Food Bank - details sent out on parentmail earlier today - and I thank you in advance for your generosity.

Finally, thank you for all the wonderful book donations that have been coming in thick and fast all week and will really enhance and refresh our classroom book corners.

Wishing you a great weekend

PE News:

PE News

Our activity this half term is tennis and we are already in full swing. The children are once again showing a growth mindset and proving they are very skilled. We have All Star Tennis in year 1 and 2 lessons for their outreach programme. Please do get out with the children if you can. I am sure they will be keen to show you their skills.

The children are learning dance this term with Louise. Year 6 are learning breakdance, year 5 are learning hip hop, year 4 are learning popping/robot, year 3 are learning hip hop, year 1 and 2 are learning dances from around the world and reception are learning a dinosaur dance. It would be great if you could get the children to perform their moves/routines at home.

House Cup

The winners for the last half term basketball and netball competitions was Viewfield.

Well done Viewfield I am sure this is the first of many.

Girls Football Team

We had our first 3 games at Dover House Road for the PPSSA girls league.

We drew 2 games and won one 2-0.

I was proud of how well the girls played and especially their effort and determination.

Well done team.

Our Inclusion:

Emotional Literacy Support Assistant:

Our ELSAs aim to build a child's emotional development and help them cope with life's challenges.

As all parents know, they are able to make an appointment with the class teacher and/or SENCO to discuss concerns they have about their child's learning and development.

In addition to this The Inclusion Team would like to offer parents quick, drop-in opportunities where they can ask Mrs Harris (Deputy Headteacher, SENCo and Mental Health Lead) questions they have about their child.

These sessions started on Tuesday 13th September 2022 at 8:30-9am and run each week. If you wish to attend please come to reception after drop off.

At the moment these sessions will be run on a first come first served basis, so there may be a queue.

If necessary we may move to a sign up or booking system but we wanted to see how many parents needed these sessions and how well they are attended.

Kind regards

The Inclusion Team

Reflection and Prayers :

The Fruits of the Spirit:

Next week's Gospel Value is:

Faithfulness:

Heavenly and merciful Father, help me to be faithful, even amidst the storms of this life.

May I keep my focus on You, oh Lord, and your purpose for my life.

Open my heart to desire Godly things and to shun evil.

Proverbs 20:6 –

“Many a man proclaims his own loyalty,

But who can find a trustworthy (faithful) man?

Lord Jesus,

Teach us to be the servants you have called us to be.

Help us to walk in humility, and to stand firm in our faith no matter how difficult the road becomes.

Thank you that because of you we will only ever know the shadow of death- death will never have victory over our lives! Thank you for your steadfast love and faithfulness to my family and me.

Amen

... and finally....

with our Lent Appeal focusing on Courageous Advocates here is our first one!

This kind Year 3 boy baked cakes and raised £7.64 in aid of our Lent Appeal charity Winston's Wish.  How wonderful.

..also.. what a lovely Act of Kindness when this Year 6 pupil presented a stunning painting to AMG this week!
