We have loved hearing updates from Osmington Bay and all the excitement of the Year 6 School Journey. They have been so lucky with the weather too.
We waved them off on Monday morning in their new hoodies and I am told by the staff who are there with them that their behaviour has been exemplary. We look forward to welcoming them back later today.
On Monday morning there was a demonstration assembly led by Sensei James to showcase his karate lessons.
And on Tuesday Year 3 had a special Art Workshop taking place in school all afternoon.
Well done to Year 4 for being so sensible during their Multiplication tests on Tuesday morning.
And as I write, Year 2 are enjoying a lovely trip to Battesea Park .
Next Week:
We are looking forward to welcoming the new Nursery Parents on Tuesday evening. On Wednesday morning there is a music tuition assembly to show case the Peripatetic lesson options to parents of Years 1 and 2 pupils.
The Reception children have been busy rehearsing for their special assembly which they will lead in front of their parents on Thursday morning, on the theme "Saying Hello, Saying Goodbye".
We are also hosting an SAS tea party for our military families that afternoon and hope the sun shines on us all. It seems only fitting to hold it in the week when both Trooping The Colour and Armed Forces Day appear in the calendar.
Then on Friday, it is Mufti Day 2 and there are also two exciting trips planned for that day: Year 5 are off to the Tower of London and Year 6 are attending the Leavers' Service at Southwark Cathedral.
Best wishes for the weekend ahead
AMG, Headteacher
Attendance:
Our target for the year is: 97%
Our attendance for the year to date is: 96.8%
This week our attendance was: 98.5%
Well done for 3 classes for 100% attendance this week
This week there are 15 pupils who have had 10% or more absence in this school year to date, falling under the Government's 94% attendance guidance.
Punctuality:
We have been asked by our Governors to monitor punctuality at St Michael's on a monthly basis from now on.
This week there were 11 late marks recorded which related to pupils
Punctuality is a life skill and we ask ALL families to ensure their children are in on time. Being late for school impacts and disrupts the whole class and shows discourtesy to the teaching staff.
Thank you for your support in ensuring your child is 'in line, on time, every time'.
Our PTA:
Well what I can say ?
The Enchanted kingdom awaits us all on the 24th June from 12-4pm so please order any tokens/wristbands for the day itself via the link below by the end of today ( Friday 16th) so your tokens arrive in your child's book bag the Thursday before (otherwise you’ll have to buy on the day and might have to Q!!)
For those involved we have post fete recovery in the Park Tavern from 7.30 pm so come along – even if you haven’t been involved you can come and marvel at how we have survived ( hopefully).
Please also volunteer to help on the day... we really need every slot filled…

Year 3 Art Workshop:
Year 3s have been very fortunate to spend an amazing afternoon with Jane Porter - an author & illustrator. Jane is leading an incredible project, 'River Wandle Art Project', in partnership with South East Rivers Trust.
The children's wonderful artwork will be part of the project which is a huge mural to go on public display on Garratt Lane. The children used different materials and techniques to create their collages for the mural. Here are some of our wonderful pieces.

Sports Week:
We have a fun packed week planned, starting with the visit of two Team GB athletes on Monday 26th June and which will culminate in a special House Sports Day Competition on Friday 30th June between 9am - 12 noon.
After Sports Day morning children will come back to school for a brief break then there will be a family picnic on the field from 12:45-1:15 (weather permitting).
If parents are coming please bring the picnic with you rather than send it in with the children in the morning.
Parents are warmly invited to come and watch the competition on Friday morning but will need to stay on the perimeter of the field until lunchtime please due to the number of children involved.
Athletes Visit:
We are thrilled to be welcoming two elite athletes to talk to us on Monday 26th June:
For the whole of Sports Week we ask that children come in clean and fresh PE kit each day and for the Friday competition they need to wear their House colour shirt, as follows:
Seymour: Green
VViewfield: White
Granville: Red
Melrose: Blue
They will also need sun cream applied before they arrive in school each day please and it is also essential that they bring a hat and water bottle in this warm weather.
Reception Sports Day:
Thursday 6th July on the field:
Family picnic: 12:30-1pm (parents stay on the field while children are taken back to school to freshen up)
Followed by Sports Day: 1:30-3pm

SENCO Surgery
Tuesday mornings, 8:30am
As all parents know, they are able to make an appointment with the class teacher and/or SENCO to discuss concerns they have about their child's learning and development.
In addition to this The Inclusion Team would like to offer parents quick, drop-in opportunities where they can ask Mrs Harris (Deputy Headteacher, SENCo and Mental Health Lead) questions they have about their child.
At the moment these sessions will be run on a first come first served basis, so there may be a queue. Please come and wait in the School Office.
Kind regards
The Inclusion Team

Next Week's Gospel Value Is:
Fellowship:
Loving Lord, thank You for all my brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus our Lord, and thank You that You have made us one in Him and are building us into a spiritual temple of living stones, each with our own peculiar function, in the heavenly kingdom of God.
Instill in each of our hearts an increasing thirst after holiness and righteousness, and give us an ever-deepening love for each other and for You.
Keep us I pray, from petty arguments and careless words and may we minister to one another in true Christian fellowship and godly love, in a body-ministry that exults You, where the gifts and talents of each member are used and valued in the edification of the others, to the praise of Your holy name.
Be glorified I pray, in each and every member of Your body, and use us all to be a witness of the love of Jesus to those who are lost.
And Father, I pray that You would unite us in godly love and Christian fellowship, as we watch for the any day return of the Lord Jesus, in whose name I pray,
Amen.
.... and finally....
....a big PINK AMG WELL DONE to these Year 6 girls who have been total stars this week, helping with the younger children, supporting Mr Rochford in PE lessons and generally being great all round role models (and thank you to Nelson for visiting us this week, despite the heat!)..
