Message from Mrs Harris, Headteacher
This week in worship our theme has been Preparing for Advent. We began on Monday with Isaiah’s prophecy, reflecting on what it means to wait well - not simply counting down the days but preparing our hearts with generosity, patience and hope. We explored how Advent invites us to give what we can: our kindness, our time, our forgiveness and our service to others.
On Thursday, our youngest children filled the hall with joy as they sang carols to their parents. Their confidence and enthusiasm were wonderful to witness and a reminder of how special this time of year is when seen through children’s eyes.
Today, the whole school has enjoyed the PTA Christmas Fair and the children have spent time moving through festive activities in their Christmas jumpers. Thank you to our PTA and parent helpers for making the event such a joyful occasion.
As many families know, the lead-up to Christmas can be exciting but also disruptive for children. UK research from the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) highlights that changes to routine, increased sensory stimulation and irregular timetables can heighten children’s emotional responses and reduce their capacity to self-regulate.
To support this, staff have been working carefully to:
give clear, simple instructions,
repeat expectations consistently,
maintain familiar routines wherever possible, and
prepare children for changes so they feel secure.
Your support at home is also invaluable, especially with rest, reassurance and calm routines during these busy weeks.
Next week is our final week before the Christmas break and our worship will help us reflect on the joy and significance of Christmas itself — the celebration of God’s love arriving quietly, yet powerfully, in the world.
We also have several special events to look forward to:
Final performances from our school music groups
Christmas Lunch on Wednesday – always a truly joyful occasion for the whole school
Year 2 Christmas Service in church on Thursday, for pupils, parents and the school community
Early finish at 2pm on Friday as we begin the Christmas holiday
Thank you for your continued support during this wonderful, busy season. We look forward to ending the term together with joy, gratitude and celebration.
Wishing you a peaceful weekend,
Mrs Harris
Headteacher
News and Notices:
Nursery Christmas Singalong:
The nursery children learned some festive songs for their Christmas sing-along and spent the past half term rehearsing with great enthusiasm.
They were so excited for the chance to perform for their parents, and their hard work truly shone through. Each child sang beautifully, followed the dance actions with confidence, and delighted in sharing their musical learning.
It was a joyful celebration of their effort and growing love for music.
Thank you to our parents who came to watch the celebration!
