This week, we began our journey through the Fruit of the Spirit by focusing on Love. On Monday, we visited church to explore this theme more deeply with the church team, setting the tone for thoughtful reflection across the school. It was wonderful to learn a new song all about love.
Our Early Years children had an exciting visit from Zoo Lab this week, meeting all sorts of fascinating reptiles—there were plenty of curious faces and brave hands!
Earlier in the week, I had the pleasure of meeting with other local Church school headteachers, and we’ve started to explore opportunities to collaborate more closely in the future. It’s an exciting time for partnership and shared vision.
Sadly, we had to say goodbye to one of the trees in our playground due to several factors. While this was a difficult decision, it gives us a chance to reimagine the space and we have already planted six new trees in our garden. We’re already planning improvements to make it a more beautiful, shaded, and private area for our children to enjoy. With parasols now in place and more permanent solutions being explored, we are committed to creating a calm and inviting environment—so watch this space!
Next week is another short one with the bank holiday on Monday. Some of our Year 3 pupils will be taking part in a tennis festival, and Year 2 are heading to the Natural History Museum to explore Living Things and Their Habitats—a perfect link to their science learning.
On Thursday, we will be commemorating VE Day in school. I’ll be joined by the school SAS group to mark the occasion in worship, and we invite all children to wear red, white and blue to show their respect and remembrance.
I also had a wonderful time with Year 1 on their trip to Windsor Castle. It was a fantastic day of exploring history, asking brilliant questions, and soaking in the impressive surroundings. The children were a credit to the school—curious, respectful, and full of enthusiasm.
Finally, we send our very best wishes to Miss Hotten, who is bravely running the Belfast Marathon this weekend. We’re all cheering you on!
Next week in our worship, we will reflect on the Fruit of the Spirit: Joy.
“The joy of the Lord is your strength.” – Nehemiah 8:10
Wishing you all a restful and sunny long weekend.
Warm regards,
Angela Harris

Next Week's Theme:
Joy
Our spiritual question that links to this theme is:
How can we find joy, even in difficult times?
“But if you possess faith, your heart cannot do otherwise than laugh for joy in God, and grow free, confident, and courageous.
For how can the heart remain sorrowful and dejected when it entertains no doubt of God’s kindness to it, and of his attitude as a good friend with whom it may unreservedly and freely enjoy all things?
Such joy and pleasure must follow faith; if they are not ours, certainly something is wrong with our faith.” —
