We come to the end of the penultimate week of term and there has been so much taking place in the past few days.
EYFS classes enjoyed their special beach and sporting experiences through the week and Year 4 were warmly welcomed to the local Mosque on Wednesday, followed by a picnic in the park.
On Wednesday evening the school was buzzing with children showcasing their work to their families and introducing them to their new classrooms and teachers in advance of their Move Up morning today.
Representatives from the national Water Swim Safe Summer Campaign were due to come in yesterday to speak to the whole school in a special assembly but this has now been postponed until Monday. We are happy to work in partnership with them to emphasise the importance of safe swimming over the summer holidays as part of our ongoing safeguarding responsibility to our children, both when they are in and outside of school.
All week year 6 continued to work hard on their wonderful production of 'Shakespeare Rocks', which was performed last evening to their friends and family - and wow, just wow.. Many congratulations to all staff and children involved in such an extravaganza and what an amazing memory was made for the children taking part as they prepare for their last week in St Michael's.
And this morning we were delighted to welcome nine new pupils who will be starting in September and who joined us today to meet their new class and teachers, while the whole school also enjoyed their Move Up morning.
On Monday evening Year 6 will take part in a special Leavers' Service to their parents and then the year will culminate with a special in school end of year worship on Thursday, before we embark on our summer break.
Best wishes
AMG Headteacher
Attendance:
Our target for the year is: 97%
Our attendance for the year to date is: 96.8%%
This week our attendance was: 97.8%%
This week there are 13pupils who have had 10% or more absence in this school year to date, falling under the Government's 90% attendance guidance.
Punctuality:
We have been asked by our Governors to monitor punctuality at St Michael's on a monthly basis from now on.
This week there were 12 late marks recorded which related to 10 pupils
Punctuality is a life skill and we ask ALL families to ensure their children are in on time. Being late for school impacts and disrupts the whole class and shows discourtesy to the teaching staff.
Thank you for your support in ensuring your child is 'in line, on time, every time'.
Our PTA:
Rain or shine, the summer holidays are finally in sight! Let's celebrate with a big "yipee" for the well-deserved break not too far away.
Take a peek at the provisional timetable of dates for the upcoming school year here, but please note that it will be subject to review based on our search for a co-chair.
If you're interested in taking on the role, please reach out to us at pta@stmichaels.wandsworth.sch.uk .

We are so delighted to celebrate the achievements of our pupils and staff who have worked so hard over this last year. It is also a big well done to you and a heartfelt thank you for everything you do to help us achieve the best for your children.
And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;
Last Friday, Year One had a wonderful visit to Deen city farm. It was an incredibly hot day, but we made sure we were well supplied with water and a delicious packed lunch. We walked to Southfields Tube Station and took the tube to Wimbledon, and then changed for the tram to Morden Road.
We walked through Morden Hall Park to reach the farm. We saw chickens, ducks, rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, sheep, goats, cows and horses. We ate our lunch in the shade of some beautiful leafy trees.
The children were impeccably well behaved and this was commented on by staff and visitors to the farm.
A big thank you to the grown ups who came on the trip with us - we are grateful for your time and thankful for your support as this enables us to take the children out and about.
Year One children are now ready for Year Two!

Year 4 Mosque Outing and Picnic:
On Wednesday, Year 4 enjoyed a trip to our local mosque. Prior to the trip, they had mapped out their route, including a detour on the way back to school via King George's Park for a picnic and games.
Whilst at the mosque, children learned about the pillars of Islam and even had a demonstration of how Muslim worshippers pray in the mosque!
They had lots of questions and found it very interesting, a perfect accompaniment to their RE learning about Islam this half term.
They then walked to King George's Park, where we had a lovely picnic (despite a dog trying to get involved in the tasty food!) before playing dodgeball and rounders.
It was a lovely day and luckily the rain held off until we were safely back at school.

Mini St Mikes Beach and Sport Day:
Despite not having the scorching temperatures we had at the same time last year, the annual Nursery Sports & Beach day(s) were a resounding success.
On both Tuesday and Thursday this week the children enthusiastically took part in a round robin of sports activities in the morning and a fun afternoon of paddling pools and water play.
All topped off with an ice lolly!
It was a lovely way to celebrate the end of a super year at Mini St. Mikes with smiles all round.
Thank you to all our families for sending in the children's beach day clothes - they all did a pretty good job of getting changed all by themselves.
Well done Mini St. Mikes

As all parents know, they are able to make an appointment with the class teacher and/or SENCO to discuss concerns they have about their child's learning and development.
In addition to this The Inclusion Team would like to offer parents quick, drop-in opportunities where they can ask Mrs Harris (Deputy Headteacher, SENCo and Mental Health Lead) questions they have about their child.
At the moment these sessions will be run on a first come first served basis, so there may be a queue. Please come and wait in the School Office.
Kind regards
