IT'S ONE MORE WEEK UNTIL THE CORONATION CELEBRATION!
This Week:
On Monday we held a whole school rehearsal for our Coronation service and it is really taking shape - with some exciting surprises in store for our audience!
The Nursery and Reception children enjoyed a fabulous visit from the Zoolab Workshop on Wednesday morning and the gentleman who presented it said that Mini St Mikes was the "best behaved nursery he has every worked with". How wonderful.
Then in the afternoon all year groups took part in a mini marathon on the school field in support of Miss Hotten's run on Sunday!
Huge congratulations go to Miss Hotten who completed the race in under 4 hours and has raised a whopping £1,300 (and counting) towards the St John Ambulance Service. What an achievement!
Year 3 were out all day yesterday at the Natural History Museum - see below for pictures.
Also yesterday some of the Year 6 pupils shared their celebration of the end of Eid with their peers. Some delicious samosas and henna hand painting were particular highlights of the afternoon.
Then finally, this morning the school took part in a Parliament Assembly in the Hall (see below for some great quotes from the children).
And lucky Year 6 have been visiting the lovely Fulham Palace this morning.
Next Week:
Monday is a bank holiday of course and then on Wednesday there will be a Wandle River workshop for Year 3.
And then on Friday ... drum roll.... it is the big day.... before another exciting long weekend to mark His Majesty King Charles' Coronation.
As His Majesty begins his reign it seems only fitting that our Gospel Value next week is 'Service'.
We do hope as many of you as possible will come along and celebrate with us on Friday morning.
In the meantime, best wishes for the long weekend ahead.
AMG, Headteacher
As we near the end of term, please be reminded that taking days off before the Easter break will be unauthorised.

New Facegroup Group for Parents:

You can put in a request to join the group via this link:
This week in EYFS, we have a visit from Zoo Lab! As part of learning for Roots, Shoots & Muddy Boots, we have been investigating minibeasts and insects to spark our awe and wonder of the world around us. We got to interact, touch and learn about frogs, cockroaches, tarantulas and snakes. We were all super listeners and understood the importance of being calm and treating our animals with respect and care.
We thought of questions and loved the interesting facts, such as how frogs swallow! We hope to look around our sensory garden as we embark on our minibeasts hunt inside and outside of school.
Chloe Fryer, Nursery and EYFS Phase Lead
Mini Marathon:
In an attempt to break the world record for the most children completing a mile we joined the TCS Mini Marathon challenge on Wednesday. The children put in a great effort to run a mile around the field to complete the challenge. I think we have some future marathon runners in our school.
A big shout out to Miss Hotten who ran the London Marathon on the weekend in under 4 hours. She told me at the event on Wednesday that she did a light 5k on Tuesday - and then proceeded to run the mile with every year group for the challenge.
It is safe to say we have a super woman teaching in year 5! Thank you to Miss Hotten for being an inspiration to our children and well done to everyone involved.
Carl Rochford, Head of Sport
Year 3 Trip to the Natural History Museum:
Year 3 went to the Natural History Museum as part of their 'Earthquakes and Volcanoes' Geography Topic.
Year 6 Eid Celebration:
Yesterday a group of Year 6 pupils presented an Eid celebration to show their year group what Ramadan means to them.
They explained that they celebrate the end of Ramadan by giving gifts as a reward for fasting for a whole month. They also hold a big feast when they come together with family and friends and similiarly the children shared traditional food with their colleagues, such as mimosas and mini poppadoms.
They also gave them crafts for them to design their own henna patterns which were then replicated onto their hands.
The children really enjoyed the presentation and how they learnt the meaning behind Ramadan - they particulalry liked the henna designs and the delicious food.
One year 6 pupil said " It was all very informative and also very very tasty and the whole event was very well organised and worked amazingly".
Well done Year 6!
Parliament Workshop:
Today we had a visit from UK Parliament.
It covered: House of Commons, House of Lords, issues that matter to you and voting
Pupils Say:
LOWER PHASE
“I learnt there are two rooms and they do different jobs”
” I’ve learnt they were a red room and a green room, if you are in the red room you are called Lord or Baroness”
“to work in the red room you have to be an expert at something”
MIDDLE PHASE
“There were three important things that MPs discuss, education, health and housing”
I learnt there were 650 Members of Parliament
“to become a Lord or Baroness, you have to be chosen by the Prime Minister”
“I found it interesting that each room has different seats and the people in them have different roles and responsibilities”
“Although the roles are different they work together to make a better society”
UPPER PHASE
“I learnt that the reason why the House of Lords seats are red is that to dye the seats cost a lot of money and it proves that they were rich!”
“I learnt there are 650 MPs across the country, however, I thought there would be more!”
“I found it interesting that you don’t need to follow a particular path to become an MP or a Lord or Baroness, you only need to apply!”
Road Safety Alert:
Please be careful when passing the driveways on the way to and from school.
There was a frightening near miss with one of our young pupils this week so please do be vigilant.
Message from The Office
Please be reminded to copy in both your child's teacher and the school office for all attendance correspondence.
Thank you.
Summer Clubs
Some clubs still have spaces which can be booked and paid for via Parentmail, as follows:
As all parents know, they are able to make an appointment with the class teacher and/or SENCO to discuss concerns they have about their child's learning and development.
In addition to this The Inclusion Team would like to offer parents quick, drop-in opportunities where they can ask Mrs Harris (Deputy Headteacher, SENCo and Mental Health Lead) questions they have about their child.
At the moment these sessions will be run on a first come first served basis, so there may be a queue. Please come and wait in the School Office.
Kind regards
The Inclusion Team
