Firstly I want to congratulate the PTA and the whole parent body for an amazing Summer Fete on Saturday. As you can see from the fantastic photo gallery below it was a brilliant day and all the hard work paid off, with a whopping £13,000 being raised for school funds. A huge AMG thank you to ALL involved.
This week has been Sports Week, with an impressive schedule of events taking place - see below. Thank you to Mr Rochford for his part in preparing such a great selection of events for the children throughout the week.
Aside from sporting matters we also hosted about a hundred new Reception parents to a special welcome evening on Tuesday.
As I write, the parents are currently enjoying a special Sports Day picnic on the field and there will be a review of House Day in next week's web update.
Next Week:
... is set to be busier than ever...
On Monday some children are taking their ABRSM Music Exams and we wish them all the best wish this.
On Tuesday the Reception children are spending the day at Bocketts Farm and there will be a Year 6 Science activity taking place on the field that day too.
That evening we have a PTA Meeting - all welcome, see below.
On Tuesday and Thursday Inclusion are hosting their consultation meetings with parents.
Next Thursday afternoon there will be a picnic on the field at lunchtime for Reception parents (only) before their own mini sports afternoon. And Year 2 will be showcasing their Let's Rock skills to their parents in the Hall at 2:30pm.
And then on Friday lucky Year 1 are off to Dean City Farm for the day!
Phew.
Finally, please read carefully the item below this message detailing the importance of engaging in the School Streets Programme, for the benefit and safety of your children.
Best wishes for the weekend ahead
AMG, Headteacher
PS Doesn't the garden look fabulous at the moment!
SAFER STREETS:
Keeping Children and Families Safe At Drop Off/Collection Time:
This proposal is to address the increase in traffic along Viewfield Road, as well as the antisocial parking that takes place at both ends of the school day and creates serious safety issues around school.
The times that the street would be closed to through traffic (between the corner of Granville and Seymour Roads) would be from 8:00am - 9:00am and from 2:30pm-3:30pm
This is about keeping the school community safe, with special consideration for those children who walk independently to/from school.
Scan the QR code to take you directly to the survey.
Thank you for supporting us in keeping our children and families safe.
Attendance:
Our target for the year is: 97%
Our attendance for the year to date is: 96.8%
This week our attendance was: 96.5%
This week there are x 14 pupils who have had 10% or more absence in this school year to date, falling under the Government's 94% attendance guidance.
Punctuality:
We have been asked by our Governors to monitor punctuality at St Michael's on a monthly basis from now on.
This week there were 18 late marks recorded which related to15 pupils
Punctuality is a life skill and we ask ALL families to ensure their children are in on time. Being late for school impacts and disrupts the whole class and shows discourtesy to the teaching staff.
Thank you for your support in ensuring your child is 'in line, on time, every time'.
Our PTA:
Well done everyone on such a fantastic day last Saturday – it really was enchanting to see it all come together with everyone’s support. A particular thanks to Chris and Jason who, along with a team of helpers, got everything to the field, set it up, took it down and got it back – a mammoth task especially in 28 deg heat!
Wonderful performances, the re-initiation of tug of war, a Mayor, an MP, two very brave gunging victims, as well as great stalls and lots of fun – impossible to name you all but thank you!
We should all be so proud of what we did – Well done us! Raffle prize distribution is still ongoing so here's hoping you've filled in the stub details clearly..
It seems we nearly have a full house of class reps for next year which is amazing! We are still on the look out for a co- chair for the next two years – they will work alongside Sheila next year. It is such a pleasure to be involved and see the energy and fun ideas people have for PTA events –please do think about coming forward – we need you to help tie it all together ! Drop us an email pta@stmichaels.wandsworth.sch.uk , send Sheila or Cora or your class rep a PM and we can chat if interested .
Hopefully we will see some of you online on Tuesday

We kicked off the proceedings with a brilliant Monday morning assembly from our guest athletes Aidan Syers and Emma Nwofor who regaled us with amazing tales of their achievements. They then very generously gave up their time instructing on key athletic skills for the rest of the day.
Throughout the week a carousel of sporting activities took place, from boxercise to soft archery to rounders to dodgeball to yoga to zumba to boules - what a brilliant variety the children enjoyed.
We are so grateful to our friends at Roslyn Park Rugby Club who coached the children on the field for two whole days too.
Today is House Day for Years 1 - 6 and a write up of this will appear in next week's web update but at the time of writing the children are all kitted out in their various House Colours in order to support each other in their various events. There will be a presentation ceremony in the playground just before dismissal today too.
Also, whilst this was all taking place this afternoon Reception children were practising a number of skills events - Egg and Spoon for balance, Penalty Shoot Out for target practise and Yoga and Pilates for coordination.
Thank you to Mr Rochford for co-ordinating such a fantastic week all round.

As all parents know, they are able to make an appointment with the class teacher and/or SENCO to discuss concerns they have about their child's learning and development.
In addition to this The Inclusion Team would like to offer parents quick, drop-in opportunities where they can ask Mrs Harris (Deputy Headteacher, SENCo and Mental Health Lead) questions they have about their child.
At the moment these sessions will be run on a first come first served basis, so there may be a queue. Please come and wait in the School Office.
