So this was the week we've all been waiting for..... for 13 years.....!
Firstly, let me say how proud I am of my incredible staff and pupils. The children were phenomenal this week when we had our visitors in school. What a wonderful opportunity our Ofsted inspection has been to showcase our wonderful school and the people that make it so special.
Tuesday and Wednesday turned out to be days like no other so thank you for your patience with us shifting the class photos to yesterday and to next week.
It was lovely to welcome EYFS and Lower Phase parents to our coffee morning yesterday too, despite the heat, and I do hope those who attended found it useful.
Well done on our sporting teams this week - Silver for the sitting volleyball and Bronze for the Year 5 Wandsworth District Football!
Next Week:
It's a busy one!
Starting on Monday we have Year 3 visiting St Michael's Church for a topic-related RE Bible Journey Workshop.
Year 1 are busy rehearsing their assembly each day in preparation for performing it to their parents on Thursday morning.
Tuesday is a special day for Year 6 when they will be attending a Leavers Service at Southwark Cathedral.
On Wednesday morning our Year 2 pupils and their parents will be able to attend a musical tuition presentation to showcase all the many musical instrument options available to them when they have moved up to Year 3.
There is also a Tennis Skills Festival taking place at Southfields Academy for some of our Years 4, 5 and 6 pupils and we wish them well.
On Thursday we will be officially unveiling the wonderful 'Garden of Wonder' to parents. See below for a link to the booking form.
Friday is Mufti Day 3 - when the PTA will be collecting in items for the ... drumroll.... most popular day in the PTA calendar - The PTA Summer Fete! (More on this in their message below of course.)
Finally, please be reminded that children must bring in water and have already supplied suncream at home in this extremely hot weather and also bring a hat to wear at breaktimes please.
Wishing you all a sunny weekend ahead.
Best wishes
AMG Headteacher
News, Notices And Reminders:
School Games Gold Award 2021/22:
We are thrilled to announce that we have achieved the School Games Gold Mark Award for the 2021/22 academic year.
The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012 and facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward and recognise a school’s engagement (provision and uptake) in the School Games against a national benchmark.
It is also there to celebrate keeping young people active and we are therefore delighted to have been recognised for our success.
Congratulations to all our budding sports people - and of course a huge thank you to Carl Rochford, our Head of Sport, for all his input and encouragement.
Breathe London:
We have now been notified that an air quality monitoring sensor (Breathe London Node) will be installed in the vicinity of the school.
The Breathe London network is run by the Environmental Research Group at Imperial College London - the same group who run the London Air Quality Network. The group combines air pollution science, toxicology and epidemiology to determine the impacts of air pollution on health and has over 20 years of experience running large urban air quality monitoring networks.
The air quality sensor will be delivered in the next couple of weeks and in terms of anti-idling campaigns, the Breathe London network is planning new events from September.
..watch this space for further details in due course....

We are looking to extend the children's experiences of the world outside St Michael's.
This is a call out to any parents who might feel able to come in and share their professions, cultures and backgrounds with us. For instance, during the Spring term the Upper Phase enjoyed a visit from a doctor.
If you feel able to offer your services please contact the school office for us to pass this on to Miss Bostock and Mrs Jennings, Assistant Heads.
Lateral Flow Bags for PTA Fete!
If anyone has any mini plastic bags from their LFT kits please bring them into the office for use as tokens bags at the fete.
Messages to school:
Please be reminded that emails to teachers always need to be copied into the office email too please: info@stmichaels.wandsworth.sch.uk
This is especially important if it relates to absences and changes of pick up please so that important safeguarding messages don't get missed.

Draw me deeper into fellowship with You, Father.
Lead me to focus on worship so that I can then, as a result, be useful in service.

How amazing is Your plan of redemption, Lord, that through finding Christ we find You. Let me know Him more, that I may enter into fellowship with You.
