This week at St. Michael’s, we’ve continued our exploration of the Fruit of the Spirit, focusing on Joy. Even with a shorter week due to the bank holiday, we’ve seen joyful moments across the school—in learning, in friendships, and in the way our children support and uplift each other.
We were proud to celebrate VE Day 80 yesterday with a special worship session, supported by our brilliant SAS. The children marked the occasion with great respect, dressed in their best red, white, and blue, helping us to reflect on the importance of peace, courage, and community. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making it a meaningful moment in school life.
Earlier in the week, Year 3 pupils took part in a tennis festival, showing fantastic sportsmanship and energy. Today, Year 2 had a brilliant time at the Natural History Museum, bringing their history learning to life through exploration and discovery.
Roblox launches new parental controls: We’d also like to highlight important updates regarding Roblox, the popular online platform. The game, often likened to Minecraft, has now introduced a more robust set of parental controls, enabling families to have greater oversight of their child’s game time and interactions. These updates are a significant step forward in keeping children safer online. For a full summary, we encourage you to read the South West Grid for Learning’s breakdown of the changes here: https://swgfl.org.uk/magazine/roblox-launches-new-parental-controls/
Looking ahead to next week:
Year 2 will be visiting a mosque as part of their RE learning.
Year 4 will visit a Gurdwara to explore Sikh worship and beliefs.
Year 6 will be celebrating the completion of their SATs with a visit to King George’s Park on Friday.
On Friday afternoon, we’re inviting parents of children in Years 4, 5 and 6 to join us for an RSE workshop, outlining what will be taught during the second half of the summer term.
Please keep Year 6 in your thoughts and prayers next week and Year 2 over the next two weeks as they take part in their end-of-year assessments. We are proud of their focus and the calm determination they have shown.
As we continue reflecting on Joy, we are reminded of this verse:
"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him.” Romans 15:13
May this joy, rooted in hope and faith, continue to guide our steps as a school family.
Wishing you all a restful and sunny weekend.
Warm regards,
Mrs Harris
Headteacher

Year 1 Visit to Windsor:
Last week, Year 1 visited Windsor Castle, one of the oldest and largest occupied castles in the world.
The trip gave the children a fascinating glimpse into royal history, with a special focus on British queens such as Queen Elizabeth I and Queen Elizabeth II.
As they explored the castle, the children were amazed by the grand State Apartments, filled with beautiful furniture, paintings, and decorations.
They also saw the stunning St George’s Chapel, where many royal weddings and ceremonies have taken place, and learned that it is the final resting place of several monarchs, including Queen Elizabeth II.
Throughout the visit, they learned how the castle has been used by queens and kings over hundreds of years, and how it remains an important royal residence today.
It was an inspiring and memorable day that helped bring the children's learning about British Queens to life.

Next Week's Theme from the fruit of the spirit is:
Peace
Our spiritual question that links to this theme is:
How can we be peacemakers in our school and community?
Make Me A Channel Of Your Peace
Make me a channel of your peace. Where there is hatred let me bring your love; Where there is injury your pardon, Lord; And where there's doubt true faith in you.
Oh, Master grant that I may never seek So much to be consoled as to console; To be understood as to understand; To be loved as to love with all my soul.
Make me a channel of your peace. Where there's despair in life let me bring hope; Where there is darkness, only light; And where there's sadness, ever joy.
Make me a channel of your peace. It is in pardoning that we are pardoned; In giving to all men that we receive; And in dying that we're born to eternal life.
