We started the new year with a very productive INSET Day for all staff which included a very indepth and inspiring presentation from Adele Stewart on Diversity and Inclusion.

In the afternoon Angela Harris led on a Mental Health and Well Being Workshop (more on this below) and both these sessions proved invaluable to the staff, providing much food for thought for the term ahead.

Here in school, with Covid cases rising again, we continue to be hyper vigilant with our sanitising and mask wearing (for staff) and I would be grateful if you could take time to read the latest Department for Education guidelines, below, as the guidance changes on a regular basis.

On Friday Year 6 are taking part in a Victorian Day and there will be a special Drama Workshop for Reception and Year 1 pupils.

Finally, with the weather turning distinctly colder, please make sure your child comes to school with a warm coat (and please name all outdoor wear items so that we start the term as we mean to go on and try to keep our lost property cupboard as clear as possible!).

Clarification on the changes to the self-isolation period for individuals who test positive for COVID-19
Clarification on the changes to the self-isolation period for individuals who test positive for COVID-19
Since Wednesday 22 December, the 10 day self-isolation period for people who record a positive PCR test result for COVID-19 has been reduced to 7 days in most circumstances, unless you cannot test for any reason.

Individuals may now take LFD tests on day 6 and day 7 of their self-isolation period. Those who receive two negative test results are no longer required to complete 10 full days of self-isolation. The first test must be taken no earlier than day 6 of the self-isolation period and tests must be taken 24 hours apart. This also applies to children under 5, with LFD testing at parental or guardian discretion. If both these test results are negative, and you do not have a high temperature, you may end your self-isolation after the second negative test result and return to your education or childcare setting from day 7.

As you may know Window Wanderland is returning on 26th-27th February for it's 6th year in Southfields. Promises to be our biggest and best yet. We had 329 windows at last year's event which was pretty staggering considering we were in the middle of the lockdown and pandemic. Sky is the limit for TWENTY TWO!

As a school we have signed up to the Education Staff Wellbeing Charter and part of our INSET Day focused on the mental health and well being of the staff.

We were led on a relaxation and breathing exercise by Angela Harris and then had the chance to try out several different mindfulness experiences around the school, including circuit training outside with Carl, a visit to the Sensory Garden and jigsaw puzzles, playdoh and colouring activities in the Hall.
