On Monday evening we held an adult only Internet Safety Workshop for parents. For those who attended I think you'll agree that it was a very eye opening and powerful presentation
On Tuesday Year 5 spent the afternoon at Southfields Academy for Junior Citizenship Day - see below for more on this.
Year 2 did a wonderful job on Thursday morning taking us through the story of the Titanic, which they are currently learning about in their History lessons. There was some great acting and costumes, not to mention superb singing and dancing. Well done to all pupils and staff involved. (Pictures below)
Today is Red Nose Day! As ever there are some great red creations on display from pupils and staff - see the picture gallery below! And their lunch today is red nose themed too!
(Please be reminded of the £3 requested donation via parentmail for taking part in this and for World Book Day and the upcoming Disco. All Lent funds are going toward Winston's Wish as selected by the children themselves....)
Also this morning we held a talk for Year 6 parentson what to expect with the upcoming SATS and how best to support your child and their well-being throughout the process. See link to the presentation below.
Next Week:
On Monday Year 1 have an exciting trip to the Guildhall for a workshop about the Great Fire of London, followed by a visit to Monument and Pudding Lane as part of their history topic.
We are also lucky to have a visiting MP (and current parent) come in and talk to the whole school about life in Parliament.
We wish the children taking part in their ABRSM exams on Tuesday all the best.
On Wednesday lucky 5S have their trip to Pizza Express to make their own pizzas. And 5H are having their own rescheduled pizza making treat on the same day with special thanks to Edwards and Ward!
On Thursday we are lucky to have more parents coming to speak about their individual journeys into their chosen profession and how they've exercised a growth mindset (Persistence, Collaboration, Innovation and Reflection). Our speakers include a counsellor, solicitor and the creative director at a large tech company! We hope this initiative will inspire the children and show them they can dream big and achieve their goals.
On Friday morning all the children in the wind orchestra and string ensembles will be holding a special concert for Year 2 parents. This will be an opportunity for them to see what wonderful peripatetic teaching we have available to the children at St Michael's from Year 3 onwards.
Finally, we are thrilled with our six fluffy little new arrivals in Mini St Mikes!
Wishing you a great weekend

Considerate Drop Off and Collection:
As some might have seen, I have extended my job remit to 'parking violation attendant'! I stepped out of the gates to watch (with dismay I might add) at the number of parents who still do not consider careful parking in the bays. My letter sent out earlier in the week giving examples of what we witnessed still causes concern, even at the end of the week. Once again we received complaints from our neighbours regarding dangerous parking around the area at pick up and drop off. One poor neighbour could not get his car out as a parent blocked the driveway.
So.....once again,
Please do not park across driveways, pathways, on corners and/or zig zags or yellow lines and please be considerate for the safety of the children at our school.
Could I also rally the support of parents who do walk to school to encourage others to do so and if you witness inconsiderate and dangerous parking, alert the office with the car registration number and the make of car, as the traffic enforcement office is now taking a list. Thank you and let's keep our school community safe.

PE News:
Pupil Voice:
The children were asked their thoughts on PE this week:
“I have enjoyed tennis in PE, especially bouncing the ball with the tennis racket. I have got better at catching and bouncing balls. I have got better at balancing in gymnastics. PE helps me feel happy” Green Class pupil)
“I like tennis in PE. I like bouncing the ball and catching it with the cone. I have learned to go across the balance beam and jump. PE makes me happy but sometimes I am tired.” (Green Class pupil)
“I like it because I learn new things that I don’t do often like tennis and hockey. I have made progress in tennis and hitting the ball in the right direction by hitting it in the middle. In dance and gymnastics I have developed my strength and technique. I am starting to remember the muscles we stretch. PE helps me control my feelings and stay calm.” (2J pupil)
“I enjoy playing tennis and football. I have also enjoyed dancing. I have learned how to play tennis and score points. I have learned to make letters with my body in gymnastics and dance. I am starting to remember the muscles like biceps and gluteus maximus. PE helps me feel happy but I am sad when it finishes.” (1C pupil)
“I definitely have enjoyed PE this term because you give us fun new games we can play at break times. My favourite sport has been football. I have learned how to put more power in my shots in football and learned to volley. I made progress with my flexibility in gymnastics and dance. I have learned about dynamic stretches and the muscles we are stretching like quadriceps and hamstrings. PE has helped me with my well-being and especially controlling my emotions.” (4L pupil)
“I am enjoying working with different people in tennis to see if we work well together. I am enjoying that each term we are learning new things in dance and gymnastics. I have learned to shoot in the high goals in netball and I think I have done well at that. I have developed my hitting and making more accurate shots in tennis. PE has helped with my well being because I get to play with my classmates away from my big brother.” (3G pupil)
“I am enjoying PE because it is a way to connect with people and have friendly competition. We also support each other when we get things wrong. I definitely think I have improved in netball because I don’t do it outside of school. I have improved my shooting and defending. I also learned how to play different positions. I have learned to do canons in dance which really helps teamwork. When we do PE and dance it is a happy environment and it helps me forget other worries or problems. Also being able to learn about different people and their talents helps build relationships.” (5S pupil)
“I am enjoying PE and all the sports we are learning. I have developed tactics in netball and where each position can go. I have learnt how to do a cannon in dance, one after the other. I am starting to remember the scientific names of muscles like quadricep. It helps me get moving and uses some energy so it supports my well being.” (5H pupil)
Community Events:
Children’s Reading group at Wandsworth Town Library.

AELTC Nature Weekend:
25-26 March 2023 10am-1pm, 2pm-4pm
"Together with the London Wildlife Trust we will be exploring the power of water and how important water is for wildlife and nature to thrive.
With frog spawning season focused around the month of March, we are celebrating amphibians and their environment in several different ways; by crafting our own toads, going pond-dipping and hearing the story about the Toad and the Frog.
Young explorers can join our Nature Safari walks to look for creatures and wildlife, you can learn about how sustainable drainage works, and there will also be the opportunity to speak with our Horticulture and Grounds teams for advice on water-friendly plants and find out how we harvest water for our grass courts."
As all parents know, they are able to make an appointment with the class teacher and/or SENCO to discuss concerns they have about their child's learning and development.
In addition to this The Inclusion Team would like to offer parents quick, drop-in opportunities where they can ask Mrs Harris (Deputy Headteacher, SENCo and Mental Health Lead) questions they have about their child.
These sessions started on Tuesday 13th September 2022 at 8:30-9am and run each week. If you wish to attend please come to reception after drop off.
At the moment these sessions will be run on a first come first served basis, so there may be a queue.
If necessary we may move to a sign up or booking system but we wanted to see how many parents needed these sessions and how well they are attended.
Kind regards
The Inclusion Team
Reflection and Prayers :
The Fruits of the Spirit:
Next week's Gospel Value is:
Self-Control:
Lord, I pray that the fruit of self-control will grow in me like a tree of strength.
I pray that I will control what I say and do and make them subject to Your spirit.
In Jesus' name.
Amen.
Almighty Father, in this world filled with temptation my desire is to have the fruit of Your Spirit evident in my daily life.
Grant me Father I pray, a spirit of self control. May I face all life's issues with calm control, from self and over-indulgence.
Amen
... and finally.....more lovely Acts of Kindness created by the children during this period of Lent to make AMG smile....
