This week at St. Michael’s, we’ve been reflecting deeply on our school vision and values — Love, Serve, Grow. We began the week by exploring the challenge of measuring love, friendship or service and reminded ourselves that God’s love for us is immeasurable and never-ending:
“I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.” Jeremiah 31:3
This powerful truth helped us consider how we show love through our actions and words every day, in our friendships, learning and service to others.
It was wonderful to welcome so many of you to our Parents’ Evenings on Wednesday and Thursday. These evenings are such a valuable time to share how well your children have settled into the year, celebrate their achievements and discuss ways to support learning at home. Thank you for taking the time to come and for your ongoing partnership with us.
A big thank you also goes to our Lead Ambassador pupils, who gave their time so generously to welcome families, guide parents to their appointments and share the pride they have in our school. They represented St. Michael’s beautifully and showed our values in action.
Across the school, children took part in inspiring Black History workshops exploring the theme ‘Standing Firm in Power and Pride.’ Through music, storytelling and creativity, pupils celebrated Black British culture, history, and the extraordinary contributions of Black individuals to our shared story.
Next week, as we approach the end of this half term, our focus will turn to Harvest. We’ll be collecting donations all week for our local food bank at the church which is a tangible way to serve others and show gratitude for all we have. A collection table and boxes will be available in the playground from Monday.
As we reflect on gratitude, kindness and community, it’s worth remembering a simple insight from child development research: children thrive when they see adults model compassion in real ways. When we involve them in giving - whether it’s donating a tin of food, writing a thank-you card or helping a neighbour - it strengthens their sense of empathy and purpose. These small, shared acts of service make a lasting difference.
Wishing you all a peaceful weekend,
Mrs Harris
Headteacher

Light Parties
"Light parties are a great alternative to Halloween and trick or treating. We have loads of fun with a Disco Dome bouncy castle, glowstick hunt (for younger kids), laser tag (for older kids), a craft, and of course lots & lots of sweets!
We believe in celebrating LIGHT, and being the LIGHT in the darkness!
Our Kids Team will encourage your kids to celebrate this date in an alternative way."
"...working hard to reduce car use, improve safety and increase walking and cycling in the Capital. You and your school community have contributed to making our city’s air cleaner and our streets safer, and your work as School Champion is inspiring the green leaders of our future. "

Winter Warmers Appeal:
Little Village is again running it's Winter Warmers Appeal, helping babies and young children stay warm and well thorugh the colder months.
This is aimed as a gathering to strengthen bonds, and enhance the joy for local children, friends, and families, with traditional stalls, fun & games and a grand raffle.
Banji Alexander:
17th November 2025
We are excited to share that Banji Alexander will be visiting our school on Monday 17th November. This special day will give the children the chance to celebrate reading and be inspired by meeting a real author.
Banji’s book "Lockdown Looms" can be pre ordered through the school by completing the form sent out on Parent Mail, and children will also have the wonderful chance to meet Banji after school to have their books personally signed.
Supervision At Collection:
Please ensure that when you pick up your child they need to be supervised at all times - the gates are open and children can wander.
It is down to the parent collecting to keep eyes on their child at all times once a member of staff has returned the child to your care.
After School Clubs:
If your child is not going to attend an after school club they are booked in for please ensure the office and the class teacher are alerted asap.
If your child decides on the day not to go to their club and instead goes home, you MUST still inform the office.
Staff spend much of each afternoon searching for children who have not turned up to their clubs and are therefore unaccounted for.
This is an important safeguarding issue and your assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated.
Important Notice Re Tailgating:
When you are let in to the school grounds please do NOT allow anyone in behind you.
Visitors should only come into school if they are either visiting the front office or going round the side to wraparound care.
Please note that there are two separate bells for these two separate entrances.
It is lovely to receive such positive messages from parents who have commented that they like the way comms from school via Arbor come in to their personal email box.
"...it has been incredibly helpful - it 's the first time in our almost six years at the school that I've found it much easier to stay on top of information without feeling overwhelmed."
