A very warm welcome back to our new academic year. I hope you have all had a wonderful summer break and the children are all refreshed and ready for an exciting time in their new classes.
As a school we recognise that some children may find this change to routine challenging and may be apprehensive about coming back to school. The teachers have designed lessons and activities throughout the first week to reintroduce them to school expectations and routines to help them settle.
“Be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Philippians 4:6-7
Please read through the sections below as they contain important notices for the return to school. These are key events and activities that may affect your child at the start of term so do please read and note all the points mentioned.
The entire staff team welcome you back to school and are looking forward to seeing you all in the morning!
Angela Harris Headteacher

Wrap Around Care:
As you will know by now, the provision for Wrap Around Care is now a school run facility.
Please do bear with us as this is a new service we are providing and there may be a few system teething issues while we set it all up.
We currently have spaces still available for both sessions but they are filling up fast...
Please also be aware that there are three different session options available to you:
Daily One: 3pm-6pm (Full Session)
Daily Two: 3pm-4:15pm (Half Session - covers the school run club hours of siblings Daily Three: 4:15pm-6pm (Following on from any school run club)
The three sessions are charged according to the number of hours attended.
Notices for This Week:
PE Kit/Uniform For This Week:
There is no PE kit required for this week and children can continue to wear their Summer uniform up until October Half Term.
Preferred Name for Your Child:
Please be aware that if you wish your child to be known/called as something other than their registered first name this needs to be put in writing to both the class teacher and the office.
If you have already stated their preferred name on their application this is the name the school will be using.
Any amendments to this must be received in writing as above.
Start of Day times:
I am looking forward to opening the gates on Wednesday morning from 8:30am.
Gates close at 08:40.
End of Day Times:
The times for the end of school are as follows:
- Nursery: 3:00
- Reception - Year 2: 3:10 (please note change from last year)
- Years 3-6: 3:10
The children will be led out to the designated areas in each playground and any uncollected children will be taken to the main office.
Please keep an eye on the younger siblings running around the playgrounds as the gates are all open.
Please avoid taking time out for holidays during the school term.
The government and Local Authority are working closely with us this term to monitorabsences and we have to report / record attendance on pupils.
Taking days just before we break up for the holidays / start of the new term does disrupt learning.
Thank you for your support.
Please note that all holidays taken during term time will be unauthorised unless classified by the Headteacher as exceptional circumstances.
Free School Meals:
Please also note that if you receive any of the following: Income Support, Income-based Jobseekers Allowance, Income-related Employment and Support Allowance please let the office know as you would be entitledto other benefits such as: a free after school teacher run club, uniform grants and store vouchers during school holidays etc.
And we would also get additional funding for the school budget which will benefit your child.
Once again, this year all children from Reception to Year 6 will be entitled to free school meals under the Mayor of London's initiative. There is no need to write in - it is automatic.
You only need to notify us if your child is changing from school lunches to packed lunches please so that the kitchen team can know numbers.
And we continue to request that once children have decided on whether they are having a school meal or a home packed lunch they need to stick with this for a whole half term please.
Change of Pick Ups
Please try to notify the School Office as early as possible regarding any change of pick ups, always copying in your child's teacher as well.
Many thanks
Birthday Treats:
Please be reminded that birthday treats, such as cupcakes or sweets or lollipops, each need to be individually wrapped for distribution at the end of the school day .
(And please remember our STRICTLY NO NUTS AND NO SESAME POLICY)
Thank you
Walking to and from school unaccompanied:
For Years 5 and 6 only
Please ensure you complete the online form LINK and return to the school office so that we have a record of any permissions given.
If your child is walking to school unaccompanied please be extra vigilant in advising the office by 9am if they are going to be absent from school.
This is a vital safeguarding requirement.
Thank you.
INSET Days September 2024
This week we covered all the important topics such as Safeguarding, Quality of Education and a Phonics Overview.
We also discussed our educational trips and behaviour policies in great detail and yesterday there was a focus on the well-being of staff as well as an RE overview - and we culminated in fun challenge photos and a whole staffroom photo!

Jeans For Genes Day: Advance Notice:
Monday 16th September 2024
Children can wear denim on their bottom half (with school shoes please).
Jeans for Genes is the UK’s only awareness and raising event which supports 1 in 10 families across the UK affected by a genetic condition. Some are well known, some are invisible, and others are incredibly rare with life altering consequences.
A Parentmail will follow asking for £1 donation for each child for this important cause.
Our Church School:
Reflection and Prayers:
A prayer on behalf of teachers
O Lord, you who have called and equipped the teachers in our community, we pray for them today.
Watch over them, provide for them, guide them, sustain them.
May you be their sun and shield, so that they might do the work that you have entrusted to them and sense your care in these uncertain times.
In Jesus’ name.
Amen
