It was so delightful to see all of the Reception and KS1 children taking part in their Nativity Performances. The singing, dancing and acting were outstanding and we were all so proud of them.
A big well done to our fabulous Chamber Choir who took part in the annual switching on of the Southfields Lights on Wednesday. It was a great turnout despite the cold and Christmas has now well and truly come to Southfields!
Yesterday KS2 took part in a very useful and informative online Internet Safety workshop.
Today is the Christmas Fair! The children are having so much fun and have been visiting the stalls, snow ball fighting and meeting Santa, to name but a few of the incredible treats the wonderful PTA have laid on for the whole school! Many of us have also been wearing our Christmas jumpers too!
Thank you to the army of parents who have been in and out of the building all day, ensuring that the children have a magical time at this most favourite PTA event in the school calendar.
Next Week:
The Christmas excitement continues, with all the fun of the Pantomime on Tuesday, the whole school Christmas Lunch on Thursday and the class parties on Friday. As well as MUFTI Day 3.
I have been so impressed with the amount of donations that have come in for the reverse advent calendar. You are all so generous and there has been so much coming in we have already had to do a drop at the food bank. At this time of year our families always remember how fortunate we all are and how we can help those in need.
Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

Street Safe: A Reminder:
HELP NEEDED NEXT WEEK PLEASE:
Thank you so much to all those parents (and their children) who have already stepped up and offered their time to this important initiative.
We continue to ask for volunteers, there were two sessions this week where there were no volunteers and the area was unsupervised.
Please add your name to the following google doc spreadsheet; even if you can only offer a very small amount of time to this important cause.
Please note, it is perfectly possible for just one person at a time to man the barriers too. And some children have been kindly assisting their parents too!
Also, please be reminded that even when part of the road is closed it doesn't mean children can run into the road and treat it like a play area.
This is an important opportunity to remind your children of road safety.
Finally, please be considerate when you park elsewhere during this closure because we are still receiving messages from neighbours on Granville Road that their driveways are regularly blocked and the pathways are dangerous.
Thank you.
Our PTA:
Hello all,
Thank you to everyone for your contributions to todays Christmas fair, raffle and to those that bought one of the 200 trees we sold. We raised a spectacular £2,000! A special thanks go to all our Year 1 and Year 5 reps for organising and leading the todays Christmas fair activities.
In true St Mike's style the school was full of festive spirit. The Christmas tunes raged, the children used some wild and wonderful imagination to decorate gingerbread people, created some beautiful Christmas crafts and exerted plenty of energy throwing snowballs and trying to find the elves in the playground. The kids really did have a blast.
With one more Mufti Day still to come any last minute contributions for the Christmas Fair and Mufti Day would be much appreciated.
We have two lucky winners for the bottle of wine and the candy canes. Raffle prizes winners will be notified during the week.
Next week is panto week - oh yes it is!
We hope you have a lovely weekend!

Well done to the Chamber Choir and Mrs Minster for taking part in the switching on of the Southfields lights this week
KS1 Be Internet Legends:
On Wednesday we had our Live Virtual Assembly for "Be Internet Legends"!
We had to answer questions about online safety and comment in the live chats - it was so cool to see our class names popping up in the chat and have them comment on our answers!

Christmas Jumper Day:
Christmas Fair:
As they entered the hall today, bedecked with decorations and stalls and crafts and so many festive activities, the faces of the children were a sight to behold!
Not to mention the excitement of Sant's Grotto and the snowball fight!
What a very special annual event this is for the children and we feel so lucky to have such an amazing parent body who make it so.
Change to Drop Off Procedures:
From JANUARY:
Gates to the playgrounds will open at 8:25am but the SOFT START TIMINGS OF THE GATES OPENING WILL REMAIN THE SAME.

Please be reminded that your child must not play on the equipment nor scooter around the busy playground whilst they wait for the school doors to open.
Many thanks for your support as ever.
Dogs:
Please be mindful that there is a no dog rule in the school playground and any dogs accompanying families to school and waiting outside the perimeter need to be kept on a tight leash so as not to upset other children.

Sweet Treats for Children:
Please be reminded that some of the Haribo style sweets that are sent in for children's birthdays aren't necessarily edible for some families due to the pork gelatin content.
It would be much appreciated if bags with a "H" for halal are purchased where possible so children don't miss out.

SENCO Surgery
Tuesday mornings, 8:30am
As all parents know, they are able to make an appointment with the class teacher and/or SENCO to discuss concerns they have about their child's learning and development.
In addition to this The Inclusion Team would like to offer parents quick, drop-in opportunities where they can ask Mrs Harris (Acting Headteacher, SENCo and Mental Health Lead) questions they have about their child.
At the moment these sessions will be run on a first come first served basis, so there may be a queue. Please come and wait in the School Office.
Kind regards

Reflection and Prayers :
Next Week's Gospel Value Is:
Christmas:
A Christmas Prayer by Robert Louis Stevenson
Loving Father, Help us remember the birth of Jesus, that we may share in the song of the angels, the gladness of the shepherds, and worship of the wise men.
Close the door of hate and open the door of love all over the world. Let kindness come with every gift and good desires with every greeting.
Deliver us from evil by the blessing which Christ brings, and teach us to be merry with clear hearts. May the Christmas morning make us happy to be thy children, and Christmas evening bring us to our beds with grateful thoughts, forgiving and forgiven, for Jesus’ sake.
Amen.
.. and finally... congratulations to Year 6 who worked so hard creating their own amazing stalls for the rest of the school to enjoy upstairs in their area. There was a wonderful array of treats in store for everyone up there!
