We have also enjoyed some outings and workshops this week, with Year 4 exploring sketching opportunities in the local area on Wednesday, Reception visiting the space dome yesterday (see below) and today Year 3 are lucky enough to be at the Tate Modern all day.

Meanwhile the ABRSM exams took place on Monday and the Year 6 Level 2 Cycle Training (session number 3) has run from Tuesday afternoon - Friday afternoon this week.

We were delighted to see many of you at the EYFS and KS1 Learn To Love To Read training workshop this morning too and I do hope those who attended felt they were given the additional tools and advice to explore the joy of reading with their children.

Thank you year 6 for another wonderful bake sale. As always we are incredibly grateful for all your contributions and time.

With Christmas trees now done and dusted (that's 202 trees to get decorated!), preparations for the St Mike's Christmas Fair have begun. For anyone new or unfamiliar with the event it is one of the children's favourite events of the year. The school hall and playgrounds are transformed into a Christmas fest of colour and cheer. It's a really fun opportunity to see the children in their school environment at the same time meeting other parents. If you are able and, provided you have a DBS check, it is a lovely event to volunteer for. Keep your eyes peeled for the signup list.

- Raffle tickets will be coming home in book bags next week - these can be paid for online or in cash via envelopes when you return your stubs by Monday December 4th

- Saturday 2nd December - Christmas tree pick up. Pick up time will be confirmed on the day it's usually between 10am and 2pm. There will be an opportunity to win more candy canes than you could possibly want and a bottle of wine so bring your pound coins along. It's also the ideal opportunity to drop off any book or toy donations for the fair.
- Donated toys, books and cuddlies will be finding new homes with the children on the day of the Fair so make sure anything you donate is something you wouldn't mind welcoming into your own home!

Year 4 went on a local walk to Southfields, where they produced sketch maps of the high street. They identified trends within the area, noticing a lot of estate agents and coffee shops!

This week the children in Reception took part in their Explorer Dome workshop. This workshop was an introduction to the moon, stars and the beauty of the night time sky.

The children found out how to see a picture of Orion as a dot-to-dot in the winter sky and hear some of the wonderful stories written into the stars.

On Monday, we had 16 children sit ABRSM exams at the school. I am pleased to report that all the children have passed.
