The Fire Brigade are coming back on Monday to visit Nursery.

On Wednesday and Thursday the whole school are taking part in some First Aid training which is another fine example of our commitment to pupil safety and their personal development.

We are well on the way to Christmas and all the associated festivities - watch out for our newsletter with all the details coming out soon, raffle tickets arriving home and mufti days starting next Friday, as well as our exciting Christmas Fair on the 9th (shh...rumour has it Father Christmas himself will be dropping by). Don't forget that orders for Christmas trees will close at midday on Friday 25th November.

During this week, the learners have participated in a variety of activities which included our Odd Socks Day assembly led by our Rights Respecting Ambassadors, a virtual assembly led by a Team GB athlete and an amazing Anti-Bullying showcase led by the year 5 learners.

It was fantastic to see the message of reaching out to friends, positivity and kindness spreading throughout St Michael's. School Council took responsibility for creating, sorting and delivering the Positive Postcards throughout the school and each year group have created a kindness book.

The key messages of Anti-Bullying will not be left in this week but will be a message that is referred back to all year long. We believe every child has the right to be safe, have their views heard and their differences celebrated.

More than six children are killed or seriously injured on roads every day in the UK. This week we took part in Road Safety Week to raise awareness for Safe Roads for All!

The Junior Travel Ambassadors produced a brilliant and informative video to be shown in each class, as a discussion starter. In the video they considered different road users and what safe and unsafe looks like on the roads.

They also surveyed each class, finding out how the children travel to school, how safe they feel walking, scooting and cycling and whether they think we need more cycle paths and safe places to cross the roads.

This Monday, Year 6 visited the Lavender Hill Magistrates' Court where they were able to sit inside a real courtroom, role-play a case about shoplifting, taking on roles like the prosecution and defence, and seeing inside prison cells.

We have a fantastic group of Year 5 and 6 children who serve the KS1 and KS2 playgrounds at lunchtime by creating games, taking care of the younger ones and looking out for any who may need a friend. I am so proud of how they embrace this important role.

As all parents know, they are able to make an appointment with the class teacher and/or SENCO to discuss concerns they have about their child's learning and development.

In addition to this The Inclusion Team would like to offer parents quick, drop-in opportunities where they can ask Mrs Harris (Deputy Headteacher, SENCo and Mental Health Lead) questions they have about their child.
