We have had an amazing week exploring 'love in action' in our worship beginning on Monday with the story of the Good Samaritan. Children have spoken thoughtfully about how they can show love both at home and at school. We enjoyed a love celebration of this with Mrs Dodman during worship this morning.
All of our parents from years 1 to 6 have had an opportunity to meet the class teacher this week - we hope you found this informative and helpful.
I was delighted to be able to meet the new vicar from St Barnabas today and take her on a tour of our school.
Our Nursery and Reception children began their staggered start this week and I have been so impressed with how quickly they are already learning their new routines and beginning to make friends.
All of the children across the school are taking in an immense amount of information at the moment as they settle into new routines and build relationships with their teachers and teaching assistants. We are encouraging them to let someone know if they are unsure or need clarification on anything. Please support your child to speak to an adult if they are worried or confused. For our younger children, adjusting to so many changes can sometimes show itself in behaviour at home - a little tiredness, grumpiness or the occasional tantrum is completely expected as they navigate their new environments.
We are always here to support both you and your child so please let us know if we can be of any assistance.
As we reflect on love in action, we are reminded of 1 John 3:18: “Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” This verse encourages us all to live out our love in practical ways: through kindness, helpfulness, and compassion, just as the children have been doing in school and at home.
Next week all children from Reception to Year 6 will be taking part in First Aid training that has been designed to prepare them for emergencies in an age-appropriate way. This will give them valuable skills and confidence to know what to do if they or someone else ever needs help.
On Friday we will also be supporting Jeans for Genes Day by wearing jeans to raise awareness and vital funds for children and families affected by genetic disorders. This is a wonderful way for us to live out our school values: showing Love by caring for others, choosing to Serve by supporting those in need, and helping one another to Grow in understanding and compassion.
Have a calm and restful weekend.

Jeans for Genes Day
Friday 19th September
Jeans for Genes is the UK’s only awareness and raising event which supports 1 in 10 families across the UK affected by a genetic condition. Some are well known, some are invisible, and others are incredibly rare with life altering consequences.
Jeans for Genes week is a great opportunity to come together, show support and celebrate differences.
We’d like everyone to take part so please send your child into school on the day wearing their jeans and with a £1 donation, which should be given to their class teacher.
Thank you for your support.
30th Year of Jeans For Genes:
As a school we will also be taking part in a national t-shirt design competition to celebrate the 30th year of Jeans for Genes Day.
The winning design will be created to help promote this significant anniversary. These will be handed out at school on Friday.
If your child would like to enter the competition, please hand them back into your child's classroom by Friday 26th.
Inclusion Coffee Afternoon:
Theme: Common Fears and Worries
Tuesday September 16th at 2:15pm
in The Oasis
To support families during this period, we have asked the Education Wellbeing Service from Wandsworth to come and lead the session.
They will share strategies and advice on how to help your child manage their worries and answer any questions you may have.
After School Clubs:
If your child is not going to attend an after school club they are booked in for please ensure the office and the class teacher are alerted asap.
If your child decides on the day not to go to their club and instead goes home, you MUST still inform the office.
Staff spend much of each afternoon searching for children who have not turned up to their clubs and are therefore unaccounted for.
This is an important safeguarding issue and your assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated.
We are excited that all children from Reception to Year 6 will take part in appropriate level first aid training on Thursday and Friday next week.
Parent Volunteers Needed Please:
