Definition

• Rapid sequence induction시와 같이 aspiration 방지를 위하여 쓰는 방법.
• Pressure at the cricoid ring to occlude the upper esophagus, thereby preventing the regurgitation of gastric contents into the pharynx.
• Recommended force to be applied :10 Newtons (N) while the patient is awake, increased to 30 N after LOC.
