Principal's Update
Dear Colleagues,
Thank you for your support and prayers as we handle the school bus situation. We have now appointed a new provider, Liberty Resources, and terminated Yeap Transport. We are now working on transiting all the boys to the new provider and will be holding a webinar on Monday to explain further. There is some light at the end of this tunnel.
I would like to start my one to one meetings with you, and would like to request for 30-60 minutes of your time to catch up with each one of you. Do feel free to let me know when is a good time for you. You can send an invite through Google Calendar, message me or just catch me anytime in school when is good for you. You can also check with my calendar on availability. https://calendar.google.com/calendar/u/0?cid=dGltb3RoeV9nb2hAbW9lLmVkdS5zZw
Some of you have come to express concerns about the PLTs being on Thursday afternoon. At the end of last year, we heard feedback that more time was needed for PLTs to do a more thorough job of reviewing and planning better lessons to benefit the level and so decided to shift it to the afternoon. But due to clashes with CCA, SDR/RRP, remedials and the unavailability of part-time and flexi teachers in the afternoon, it is quite challenging for some to meet on Thursday afternoons. It is not easy to shift the Thursday at this point in time, and so to help alleviate the situation, we have allowed some groups to meet in the morning during their common free time. We will also re-look the calendar and stand down more Wednesday meetings as well to free up more time. Thank you for your feedback and if you have other concerns and ideas, do feel free to raise it.
Here's a favourite story of mine as a reflection for this week, as we go though the ups and downs of life:
There is a story of a farmer who used an old horse to till his fields.
One day, the horse escaped into the hills. When the farmer’s neighbours sympathized with the old man over his bad luck, the farmer replied, “Bad luck? Good luck? Who knows?”
A week later, the horse returned with a herd of horses from the hills. This time the neighbours congratulated the farmer on his good luck. His reply was “Good luck? Bad luck? Who knows?”
Then when the farmer’s son was attempting to tame one of the wild horses, he fell off its back and broke his leg. Everyone thought this was very bad luck. The farmer’s reaction: “Bad luck? Good luck? Who knows?”
Some weeks later, the army marched into the village and conscripted every able-bodied youth they found there. When they saw the farmer’s son with his broken leg, they let him off. Was that Good luck or Bad luck? Who knows!
Have a great week ahead!

7 Habits @ SSS T&L: Habit 3 - Put First Things First
By: VP
Relevant Levels: All
Date and Time of Event: -
Information Details:
Dear everyone,
As we continued to share with our students this week on 7 Habits, let us also look at how Habit 3 could apply to our daily T&L in our subjects / classes.
Habit 3 - Put First Things First:
Amongst the many things that we want to do with our boys in class, what are our personal fundamental building blocks for effective teaching and learning in each of our classes? What are the most important things to put in place before all the other aspects can have a chance of success?
Ensuring that every boy is ready to start the lesson
Classroom management and routines
Clear lesson routines that facilitiates the learning activities for the subject / lesson
Establishing and communicating clear success criteria with the boys so they aware and take charge throughout the lesson what they are setting out to learn
Knowing where the class or each student is in terms of learning readiness or weak/strong in before each lesson
Good follow-up questions/assignments for each lesson so that we get and give good feedback and follow up with targeted focus for each next lessons
Building class rapport and TSR with each student, so each boy knows that we care and wants to learn from us
These are some reflective preparative angles, hope they are useful, and we will definitely have more of our own too.
We share a common vision, we see the same bright star - from "We Are Lasallian"
Thank you

Thank you.
