KAU has a strict policy against discrimination in employment. This policy prohibits discrimination based on race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, disability, marital status. This policy applies to all aspects of employment, including recruitment, hiring, placement, promotion, demotion, transfer, layoff, termination, training, compensation, performance evaluations, and benefits.
Furthermore, KAU is committed to providing an equal opportunity workplace for all employees. This means that all employees are treated with respect and dignity, regardless of their background or personal characteristics.
On the 9th of April 2015, KAU declared the Professional Ethics Charter (2015) which stresses the disciplines that are related to discrimination as well as defines and draws the prevention schemes of anti-discrimination.
The National Civil Service Law states “Employee Competences & Merit” as the only criteria for employment selection. Furthermore, and within the scope of KSA 2030 Vision, the Ministry of Labor and Social Development has amended the National Labor Law to explicitly highlight the fact that all employees, irrespective of their gender, age, religion, disability, or other, have equivalent rights in having jobs and being treated equally within the workplace.(NonDiscrimination policy has been reviewed 2021)
Principle 4 under the “Ethical Principles” section of the “Professional Ethics Charter”, page 8, is titled: “Equality and Non-Discrimination”, and defines it as “Equality and Non-Discrimination is an understanding that requires the employees (faculty & staff) to deal with all students, fellow faculty members and everyone in KAU in a similar way, regardless of gender, social status, religion, color, Ethnicity, disability or other”.
Principle 19 under sub-section “University” which is listed under the “Obligations & Responsibilities” section, page 13, requests the faculty member “to commit to seek and contribute to preventing all kinds of discrimination against any person or group on the basis of race, color, sex, age, religion, political belief, disabilities in its various categories, personal preferences, and social status or standing”.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development issued the Guide Manual to Business Ethics which explains the business ethics expected from the employer, employee and the employees among each other.
On Page 10, under Employer's Ethics and Behaviors, the guide states:
Point 1: The employer shall evaluate the worker's capacities based on the merit, competitiveness, and equal opportunities...
Point 5: The employer shall treat workers fairly and equitably without any discrimination.
Point 10: The employer shall follow the principle of equality in all cases regardless of the race, color or religion.
And on Page 14, it defines the relationship regulation among workers:
The workers shall observe the following:
Point 3: Keeping friendliness and cooperation without discrimination, contempt or derogation.
Point 8: Undertaking to perform the work in an atmosphere free of discrimination or preference or any inconveniences.
The Ministerial decree number 39860, issued in 2018, decided the following important rules and regulations regarding the discrimination against women in the work domains and the workplaces.

It is forbidden to do any work that could affect women’s freedom which could slow or stop work equality or discrimination in treatment at work which will be against the Labor Law and other regulations.
It is forbidden to discriminate between genders, which have similar profiles, regarding their wages in jobs.

Work is a citizen's right, and no one else may practice it except after fulfilling the conditions stipulated in this system. Citizens are equal in the right to work without any discrimination on the basis of sex, disability, age, or any other form of discrimination, whether during the performance of work or upon employment or advertising it.(The law was reviewed in october 2024).
