As part of its responsibilities, King Abdulaziz University is committed to maintaining direct communication with students and encouraging their participation in decision-making processes through their involvement in various advisory committees at the university level.
For example, the University Director chairs the Student Advisory Committee, which includes representatives from male and female students from the health, scientific, and humanities colleges, as well as from the main campus in Sulaimaniya and the Rabigh campus.
On December 3, 2024, the Deanship of Student Affairs, in collaboration with the Strategic Planning Center, held the second workshop for developing the strategic plan of the Deanship of Student Affairs, with the participation of our male and female students. There are also similar advisory committees for graduate students, chaired by the Dean of the Deanship of Graduate Studies, with specific responsibilities.
On February 20, 2024, the esteemed Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry chaired a meeting of the Advisory Committee for postgraduate students in the Faculty of Dentistry, attended by the Vice Dean for Graduate Studies, the Vice Deans for Educational Affairs, and the Director of the Graduate Studies Unit. Students are nominated and selected by the Deanship of Student Affairs in coordination with the colleges to identify student needs and fulfill their requirements and aspirations.

The University Student Regulations – Rights and Duties

– under Section 2 (Student Rights in Non-Academic Areas), state the following:
Paragraph 8: The student has the right to choose their representative from among fellow students to participate in student advisory committees to discuss matters concerning them.
Paragraph 11: The student has the right to choose a specific university entity to protect and follow up on their rights.
Additionally, there is a representative for students with special needs within the higher student advisory committee, chaired by the University President, which represents the needs of the students at the center for special needs.
KAU has an elected representative for each faculty who, in addition to some senior faculty members, compose the “Students' Advisory Committee” that started in 2017. This advisory committee is represented by a group of university students and it assists, with the President of the University, to achieve direct communication with the university students in a way that contributes to achieving their aspirations and desires and their association with the university's educational system and holds its meetings for at least once every semester.
The 28-member committee nominates only one member to be its secretary from among the six nominated members.
The 28 members represent KAU’s faculties.
The elected Secretary of the Committee promised to use most of his time and attention to the Committee and members from all colleges, to listen to the problems raised and positive ideas and communicate them in a transparent manner to the university officials.
Students’ Activities Administration Board
KAU has an elected “Students’ Activities Administration Board” that is composed of senior faculty members whose responsibility is to manage and support various students’ activities. The Deanship has supervisors who cultivate the talents of the students and develop their extra-curricular skills in order to provide the students with the needed skills and develop their talent. There is also a pioneer for every activity, whether in the deanship or the faculty. The activity is carried out through the following elected committees:
General Committees: Islamic Awareness, Social, Sports, Cultural and Technical, as well as the Rangers Committee.
2. Sub-committees: There is a subcommittee of the general committees in each college that holds activities that are different than those done by the general committee and all these activities are approved by the university council.
Scholarship Students' Advisory Committee:
Vision: The advisory committee for scholarship students to be the best partner in making distinguished decisions at the university level.
Message: The Scholarship Students Advisory Committee seeks to involve students in the decision-making process, and bear responsibility and contribute to the development of the university educational, academic and service process, to achieve the university's mission.
Objectives:
Promoting the spirit of cooperation and the concept of teamwork between students and strengthening ties between the students and the university’s administrative and academic bodies.
Developing the leadership spirit among students and giving them the opportunity to express themselves and be responsible for their opinions and needs.
Contributing to solving students' academic, social and behavioral problems in cooperation with the competent authorities of the university.
Supporting academic achievement and academic path for scholarship students at the university.
Supporting students’ activities in the scientific, cultural, social and sports fields and volunteering programs.
Educating students about their rights and duties in accordance with the university’s established regulations.
Defending students' statutory rights, as dictated by the university's rules and regulations.
Providing development initiatives and proposals in plans, systems, procedures and activities.
On the level of the faculty, and deans, there is the "Deans Advisory Committee's Secretariat" that it is composed of 11 members and the university president, and whose primary mission is to consult and advice the President of King Abdulaziz University about the university needs and strategies.
King Abdulaziz University applies the “Labor Law” which permits the establishment of worker councils, and encourage employers to form worker committees to oversee staff welfare and to handle the funds collected through fines imposed on workers.
The Labor Law preserves different Labor Rights for all employees, including women and international, like freedom of association & collective bargaining.
