This is part of the university strategy to empower online education by developing powerful online education platforms which will promote remote working for employees and reduce employee commuting.
KAU, and as a part of its strategy to reduce commuting, strives to avail every necessary and possible way of access to information and fulfilling work for its students and staff, anytime, anywhere.
The "Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education", at KAU, is responsible for providing all facilities, needed by students and staff, to allow distance learning. Its message is:

In light of the global pandemic of the emerging coronavirus, COVID-19, which is considered an emergency risk and is also related to human risks, which directly affects individuals, communities and the environment, and has greatly affected global economies and stopped many public and private sectors, KAU has taken the following measures:
On March 12, 2020, a schedule has been issued to regulate the attendance of employees in the form of shifts, so that not all of them are present at the workplace at the same time, according to the precautionary measures and health protocols issued during that period.
On March 16, 2020, attendance of all employees of the workplace was suspended, and the university started implementing the policy of remote work by using the electronic systems available at the university.
Using social media, e-mail and other means of communication to speed up the completion of work.
The application of virtual meetings, such as using the zoom program to carry out tasks or follow up on projects, whether with students, employees or clients.
Training employees to use remote communication programs and electronic meeting management skills.
