The third goal of the Sustainable Development Goals, “Good Health and Well-Being,” aims to enable all individuals to enjoy a healthy life and a high level of well-being at all stages of life. This is achieved through the provision of comprehensive, safe, and accessible healthcare services for everyone, and by promoting a culture of prevention and quality of life to build a healthier and more sustainable society.
Prominent KAU Efforts In light of SDG 3
Based on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which prioritizes the health and well-being of individuals, it has become essential for King Abdulaziz University to strive to provide the best preventive and therapeutic healthcare services for all its members — including students, employees, and faculty — in line with this ambitious vision. This is achieved through several channels available within the university campus, which can be viewed through the following link (Health Services), as follows:
First: The University Hospital:
The University Hospital offers distinguished medical, educational, and research services to university members and all members of the local community. It is committed to providing the best healthcare services to patients based on a partnership between the patient, their family, and hospital staff. This commitment is ensured through a policy of "Patient Rights and Responsibilities," which patients can refer to when needed for clarification.
Second: The University Dental Hospital:
The University Dental Hospital contains several medical departments and supportive medical services across various dental specialties. It is equipped with the latest medical technologies and includes a selection of highly skilled doctors, specialists, technicians, and administrators to ensure the delivery of the best medical and educational services in dentistry for university members and the local community.
Third: University Medical Services Center:
It has several branches in the female students’ section and Rabigh. The center provides comprehensive health services that offer the highest level of care to university staff. It also aims to provide a suitable environment for training and education for programs of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties and female college students, as well as contributing to research programs and offering health awareness programs.
Fourth: Medical Research Centers:
King Abdulaziz University includes two types of research centers. The first type comprises medical research centers, which conduct research studies aimed at finding appropriate solutions to provide the best healthcare services across various medical fields and specialties, in addition to offering consultations to help build an informed and health-conscious community.
The second type includes healthcare centers, which are dedicated to providing specialized care in diagnosis and treatment, with a strong focus on advanced research and innovation, as follows:
