University student housing is a stage of life in which the student spends an important stage of his/her life spanning four, five years or more. This stage is the stage of youth, the stage of flow, giving, vitality, activity, and the stage of acquiring knowledge, skills, and experience. King Abdulaziz University recognizes that student housing is an important tributary of science and knowledge and the acquisition of skill. Hence, the University has been striving to provide all the services and equipment that the student needs in the daily life according to high-level standards within the student housing complexes, to create an integrated housing environment that provides an atmosphere conducive to students for completing their educational career.
KAU provides affordable housing for its students, not only as part of facilitating their education, but also for the sake of reducing commuting.
The Student Housing Department welcomes regular and affiliated students - during the preparatory course and final exams - coming from all over the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, foreign scholarship students coming from GCC and Yemen, and the students with special needs who are provided with suitable rooms.
Services Provided by the Student Housing Department
Facilitate students’ daily movement to the University.
Give permission to the trainees and students’ field visits.
Give external duty permits of no later than one month period in case a student wishes to stay outdoors during the semester.
Follow up of students who are in poor academic status.
Give residence visit permission to the student’s relatives and friends on Thursdays.
To apply, students need to access their personal accounts in the Odus Plus system, print out their admission notices and bring along the following documents: a copy of the high secondary school certificate, a copy of the university ID, a copy of the national ID and four passport-sized photos.
Dr. Abdelmonim Alhayani, Dean of the Students' Affairs, pointed out that residential halls were established to provide students with a decent learning, research and living environment, where they can enjoy a balanced development. To this end, the university embarked on the restoration of buildings to accommodate larger numbers of students in the coming years.
There is also a students' advisory committee that handles students' concerns and needs and proposing solutions to housing problems.
The General Supervision Office at King Abdulaziz University seeks to provide all the services and supplies that students need in their daily lives according to high quality standards to save them effort, time and money. These services are:
Housing and follow-up students during the period of residence in the residential complexes.
Introducing students to all the services and facilities available in the residential complexes that enable them to benefit from them.
Clarify the student's rights and duties towards their colleagues and the facilities available in the student housing complex.
Conducting field tours, visiting students at their residence, listening to them, responding to any difficulties or problems they might encounter, and working hard to solve and overcome them.
Supervising and following up on the provision of services in residential complexes (maintenance, cleaning, agriculture, etc.).
Offices to supervise the security and safety of residential complexes that provide many services, including organizing the entry and exit of students and their visitors.
A mosque located in a convenient location within the student housing complex, where the five daily prayers and Friday prayers are held, in addition to other cultural and religious activities.
A well-equipped restaurant that serves daily meals at nominal prices.
An automated teller machine that helps students complete financial transactions.
A supply center to provide food and other supplies.
Laundry for washing and ironing clothes.
Cafeteria serving snacks.
An indoor recreational hall equipped with a variety of sports equipment.
The activity unit in the residence offers many different activities and programs that help students to refine their talents, develop their skills, and make use of their free time in the beneficial and useful. These activities can be summarized as follows:
Establishing direct and open meetings and dialogues within the student housing complex between students and university leaders to touch their needs, understand their problems and work to find appropriate solutions.
Holding many lectures, courses, training, awareness, educational and social programs, in addition to religious lessons and guiding speeches.
Holding many sports competitions in different games in addition to various individual sports games.
Organizing many activities and various social programs, such as receptions for new students and greeting parties.
Faith trips to Mecca and recreational trips within the city of Jeddah.
