Standing Committee for the Protection of the Rights of Students with Disabilities
The University is committed to the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which the Kingdom signed on September 13, 2006, which defined the rights of persons with disabilities, and stressed on the States parties to the Convention to promote, protect and guarantee those rights.
The university, represented by the Center for Persons with Disabilities, has also established a committee for the rights of students with special needs, which seeks to promote the full participation and independence of persons with disabilities, through the following:
- Enabling students with disabilities to obtain a university environment compatible with the International Convention for Persons with Disabilities.
- Develop and support the needs of students with disabilities in the academic environment so that they can learn independently and confidently in the academic community.
- Discuss the difficulties and challenges facing students and adopt their vision in order to facilitate the educational process according to their special needs.
- Facilitating the integration of students with disabilities into the university community and qualifying them scientifically and academically for the labor market.
- Providing all means and capabilities that contribute to the ease of movement of students with disabilities on campus, and giving them the opportunity to participate in university activities and events, educational, cultural, social and others.
Receiving all complaints and suggestions from students, studying and discussing them, and developing mechanisms for their application
Submit reports and proposals to the university's senior management in order to serve the category of students with disabilities with all available possibilities
Students, who have various types of disability like mobility, vision, and hearing, get free accommodation in the university dorms, and they are provided with services that guarantee a normal university life similar to the rest of their colleagues without any distinction. They also have the priority in choosing the rooms they prefer in the dorms.
A disability allowance is paid to students according to their classifications throughout their studies at the university (bachelor - graduate studies).
Provide training and physical rehabilitation specialists to train students physically to lose weight and raise fitness rates.
Participation of students in theater, arts and chanting clubs in the Deanship of Student Affairs, the establishment of a theater group that included 13 students with disabilities, and the continuous participation of students in University Theater Festival.
