King Abdulaziz University (KAU) extends its educational initiatives beyond the campus, engaging with the community to promote learning, development, and sustainability, in line with (SDG 4). KAU focuses on providing educational opportunities to underserved communities through its community internship programs. The university also collaborates with local schools, offering workshops and mentoring programs aimed at supporting students’ academic and personal development. Public lectures and seminars are another key part of KAU’s outreach, covering a wide range of topics such as health, sustainability, and cultural studies, and are open to the public to foster lifelong learning. Environmental awareness campaigns, organized in collaboration with local NGOs and government agencies, address critical issues like recycling and sustainable living, often featuring workshops and community events. In the health sector, KAU’s medical faculty and students lead outreach programs offering free medical checkups and health education, focusing on issues like diabetes and heart health. The university also emphasizes cultural and heritage preservation by organizing public events that celebrate Saudi Arabia’s rich traditions, providing workshops on arts, crafts, and history. Through these initiatives, KAU plays a crucial role in community development, expanding access to education and fostering a more informed and empowered society.
Hence, KAU various deanships, centers and units have been providing efforts to support the public community and local schools through different “ad-hoc” and “programmed” outreach activities beyond the university campus.
King Abdulaziz University is always keen to motivate faculty members and students to make more efforts in volunteer projects by creating platforms and awards.
