King Abdulaziz University places great emphasis on implementing innovations and modern technologies to protect aquatic ecosystems through training programs and applied research that aim to reduce environmental impacts and promote sustainable practices.

Among the most notable practical efforts in this regard are:

1. Memorandum of Understanding between SAIL Environmental Services Company and King Abdulaziz University, represented by the Faculty of Marine Sciences, which includes the following areas of collaboration:

• Providing specialized environmental consulting in the field of marine environment protection to achieve the highest levels of quality and performance excellence.

• Conducting scientific research and surveys related to the marine environment to improve understanding of ecosystems and enhance their sustainability.

•  Cooperation in marine environmental laboratories and exchange of scientific and technical expertise between both parties.

•  Developing specialized training programs in marine environment fields, such as oil pollution management and hazardous material control, according to the available capabilities and resources of each part .

  2.    Partnership with the Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC), which aims to:

• Develop and implement technologies that reduce the environmental impact of desalination operations and protect coastal and aquatic ecosystems.

•  Exchange knowledge and scientific expertise in the field of water desalination.

• These partnerships are part of the University’s continuous efforts  through the Faculty of Marine Sciences to strengthen collaboration with governmental and private sectors in protecting marine ecosystems, supporting scientific research and specialized training, and contributing to the realization of Saudi Vision 2030 .
