KAU provides free public access to all of its libraries, be it the children library, researchers library, and other types of libraries, where the available resources like books, publications, etc. are available to be used.

KAU has 10 libraries with Public Access.
They are managed by the Deanship of Library Affairs and provide a huge set of free access services to a wide variety of physical and electronic educational resources, thus, targeting educational institutions and stakeholders. The Loan Policy can be accessed by clicking "Loan Policy".
Their free services offering are based on their primary goal, which is "availing information services for employees of educational institutions and institutions in Makkah Al-Mukarramah region, as part of the university's national role and responsibility".
Another significant library in KAU is King Fahed Public Library, which, as seen from its name, is a public library with 6 different libraries that target different types of the community such as Academics, Youth, Women, Children, Electronic Library and "People with Visual Impairment" Library. It provides free access to physical and electronic educational resources to the public and for the benefit of the whole community, thus, targeting Academics & Researchers, Youth, Women, Children, and People with Visual Impairments.
Its Goals are:
Establishing the concept of reading in society and supporting self and public education at all levels
Providing all kinds of knowledge and information to the beneficiaries
Collecting and preserving cultural elements and enhancing the cultural identity of the local community
Providing electronic services by reviewing the automatic index and electronic data rules
Providing training courses, workshops, and cultural, scientific and social lectures
Creating a public forum to support social and intellectual communication among members of society
On 13-09-2020, KAU's President, Prof. Abdul Rahman bin Obaid Al Youbi, sponsored the signing ceremony of two joint cooperation agreements between the Deanship of Library Affairs at the university, and the Saudi Arab Society for Culture and Arts in Jeddah, represented by Mr. Muhammad bin Ibrahim Al Sobeih, and another with the "Batterjee Medical College in Jeddah", represented by the Dean of the College, Dr. Osama bin Adnan Kansara.
The President of the University explained that these agreements establish the important role played by the University as part of its social responsibilities, and it was agreed to provide information and knowledge services to all employees of "Batterjee College", through the provision of all electronic and printed information sources in addition to lending and advisory services regarding the development of services And information sources in the college’s libraries. The Deanship of Library Affairs at the university will also offer qualitative courses and a variety of workshops in various fields of office work, and train librarians at "Batterjee College" on the latest technologies and professional developments and keeping pace with trends and changes in office work.
