Saudi women are yet another great asset to the country. With over 50 percent of Saudi university graduates being females, the government and the higher education institutions, like KAU, will continue to develop WOMEN's talents, invest in their productive capabilities and enable them to strengthen their future and contribute to the development of the society and economy.
KAU seeks all efforts that empower FEMALES inside the university and in the national community, by availing various types of access schemes be it Mentoring, Scholarships, or any other type of support services.
The Deanship of Student Affairs in the Female Section established the annual advisory program for the academic year 2019, at the King Faisal Conference Center and lasted for three days, and the program aimed to introduce students to the university’s systems and culture and highlight the requirements of this very important new stage in the student’s academic life, as it aims to introduce them to the available colleges, departments and activities, and the mechanism for using the website and making use of all the university’s services. The University’s Vice President for the Female Section, Professor “Hana bint Abdullah Al-Naim,” gave a welcoming speech to the students, congratulating them on their affiliation to KAU and wishing them success. In appreciation of the efforts of the outstanding students, she honored the 105 outstanding Female students, from the scientific track, who scored a grade of (5) in the preparatory year for the past year as well as (15) students from the administrative track.
Her Excellency the Vice President for the Female Section, Prof. Dr. Hana bint Abdullah Al-Naim, inaugurated the Specialized Counseling Forum for General Education organized by KAU's Career Counseling and Career Support Center in cooperation with the Deanship of Student Affairs represented by the Vice Deanship for the Preparatory Year, University Counseling Center and the Deanship of Admission and Registration in Female section, in December 2019, at the King Faisal Conference Center.
The forum aims to introduce Female students, of the third grade of high school, to KAU and its various specializations and requirements. The forum program included several introductory paragraphs about the admission mechanism at the university. Her Excellency, the Vice Dean, gave a motivational and guiding speech to the female students, in which she welcomed them and wished them success, during which she mentioned that King Abdulaziz University was ranked first in the Arab world in the rankings and the pride of KAU as it competes with major universities worldwide, which is an achievement every KAU-er is entitled to be proud of.
She also talked about the specializations, and pointed out the importance of focusing on personal skills to be compatible with the labor market, and noted the role of student activities in shaping the future personality of students.
The joint supervision at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah is a unique program of its kind in Saudi universities. It was specifically established to provide the opportunity for female teaching assistants and lecturers to complete their higher studies and obtain a doctorate degree from a number of prestigious international universities while they are in King Abdulaziz University without the need to travel outside the country.
Since the beginning of the program in 1994, 5 batches of female teaching assistants and lecturers at the university were accepted to study through it. It included a total of 119 female students, 45 of whom graduated, and 53 female students are still in their various stages of study, while 6 female students switched to the scholarship system based on the change in their circumstances.
The faculty at King Abdulaziz University and the student completes all stages of the study, such as conducting research, experiments, and writing the thesis at King Abdulaziz University, which provides the student with everything she needs in her studies, including laboratories, equipment, and materials, in addition to an advanced computer lab.
Communication between the student and her supervisors takes place through all means of communication, including visual communication and e-mail.
The Department of the Joint Supervision Program supervises all academic and administrative affairs of the female students’ study. King Abdulaziz University bears all the costs of the student’s study, such as study fees in foreign universities, and the provision of all the requirements for the student’s study at King Abdulaziz University, such as equipping laboratories, purchasing advanced scientific equipment and laboratory materials, and holding training courses for female students, in addition to travel and accommodation costs for external supervisors, local supervisors, female students and their relatives.
King Abdul Aziz University spares no effort in providing all means of continuity and success for this ambitious program, which has provided the female section of the university with highly qualified national women’s academic cadres from the most prestigious universities in the world to contribute to the process of higher education for the daughters of this beloved country.
KAU is a public university that provides free education for Saudi Females. Furthermore, KAU has a very generous scholarship program for international students wishing to study at the university where they are provided with a lot of services, facilities, money, health care and close follow up on their studying status through out their studying period in the university.
The Implementing Rules of the Labor Law embraces multiple new rules and regulations that provide WOMEN's support in alignment with the Vision 2030.
On pages 49 and 50 (51 & 52 in the doc), under Work Environment, Articles 34, 35 and 36 defines WOMEN's support regulations.
Article (34)
a. General Controls
Employment of female workers does not require a permit from Ministry of Labor and Social Development or any other entity.
5. Protection of the male and female workers from occupational hazards and provision of suitable work environment falls within the establishment responsibility.
6. The employer shall provide seats for female workers at their work places.
Article (35)
A female worker is entitled to a full-pay maternity leave for a period of ten weeks, distributed as she wishes; at a maximum of four weeks before the anticipated date of delivery, which shall be determined by a health authority approved by the establishment or under a medical certificate certified by a health authority.
It is prohibited to ask the female worker to work during the six weeks following giving birth. In case of a sick child or a child with disabilities, the female worker is entitled to one month’s leave at full pay beginning after the expiry of the period of maternity leave, extendable for one month without pay.
Article (36)
When a female worker returns to work following a maternity leave, she is entitled to take a period or periods of rest of at most one hour per day in addition to the rest periods granted to all workers. Such period or periods shall be calculated as part of the actual working hours and may not entail any reduction in wages. The female worker shall, after returning to work following a maternity leave, serve a written notice to the employer, including the period or periods of such rest and changes thereto; as well as the maternity period or periods in accordance with the Implementing Regulations of Labor Law.
Article (154)
When a female worker returns to work following a maternity leave, she shall be entitled, in addition to the rest periods granted to all workers, to a rest period or periods not exceeding in aggregate one hour a day for nursing her infant. Such period or periods shall be calculated as part of the actual working hours and shall not entail any reduction in wages.
This special resolution, as well as another set of resolutions have been issued to support the Saudi WOMEN whose graduating number is increasing, in terms of availing enough employment opportunities, availing the suitable working environment, providing WOMEN with the proper policies related to their babies and dying husbands, as well as permitting employers to start applying remote employment for WOMEN. These resolutions should support higher education for girls and some formal procedures for women's work in the government and private sectors.
This decision states, on page 8:
1 - The Higher Education Council studies determining the inputs, outputs, curricula and paths of university education for girls in a way that meets the requirements of development and meets the needs of the labor market.
2) The Civil Service Council has made appropriate arrangements that allow the agencies that employ women - especially those that have morning and evening shifts, such as health and social jobs - to take part-time employment options, or to take advantage of the long-paid job of women, or other forms of partial or temporary employment , Provided that the Civil Service Board considers the possibility of including partial employment cases in the retirement system.
3) The Civil Service Council examines women's employment in the jobs and departments that serve them, and takes the necessary legal measures to bring about an increase in female employment opportunities in areas that suit women, and the services that pertain to them (such as civil status issues, notaries, etc.).
5) Approval of the establishment of a permanent higher national committee specialized in women's affairs, based on its views on qualified women in various specializations, and working to prepare a list for women’s work that takes into account the privacy of society, and affirms the right of women to a job and a decent life. The study of women's work fields is a comprehensive and renewed study that takes into account the legal controls for women's work and the increasing numbers of female graduates, the experiences of other countries, the methods of qualification and training available to women, and the extent to which some groups of women - such as divorced and widowed women - can be distinguished by priority for employment, and to develop appropriate solutions for what may impede women's work...
6) Sufficiency with regard to early retirement for working women, with the provisions contained in the civil retirement system.

The university counseling unit is a specialized unit to serve the FEMALE student and support her in developing her skills, refining her abilities to adapt to life and the requirements of success, and helping her to find possible solutions to the problems she faces to achieve adaptation and psychological harmony.
