The Scientific Endowment at King Abdulaziz University has organized a new environmental campaign in the neighborhoods of Jeddah under the title "We recycle it for you from your home", which aims to preserve the safety of the environment and raise community awareness, by collecting paper and plastic waste from homes and recycling them safely on the environment and on human health.
In its first phase, the campaign covers (11) neighborhoods of the city of Jeddah, where the dates for visiting the targeted neighborhoods were scheduled successively every Saturday from July 25 to October 10, 2020. The schedule was officially announced on the social networking sites of the Scientific Endowment, in order for the residents of the neighborhoods to know the time of the neighborhood in which they live and communicate in order to send the locations of their homes to empty the paper and plastic waste they have.
According to the Executive Director of the Scientific Endowment, Dr. Issam Kawthar, the campaign “We recycle it for you from your home” is the starting point for recycling plastic waste, after the endowment’s successful experience, which spanned for years in recycling paper, noting that the goal of organizing these campaigns is to attract interest of community members towards the issue of environmental pollution resulting from the combustion of both plastic and paper materials, and to spread awareness among its groups, which contributes to achieving sustainable environmental development.
