You are about to embark on a semester of learning how to understand what your American government does for you and how you can become a part of the system. Many of my seniors over the past have always been honest that they did not necessarily think they would be interested in this course, but when it was completed appreciated how the news, elections, and the leaders now make more sense to them. For you to enjoy and get the most of the class you should try to be engaged through our discussions and by absorbing the events in the news. When you learn that government does impact aspects of your live you will realize why it is so important for to you to learn before graduating high school. So get ready for a trimester filled with learning about the government, but also the events going on in our country and world today.

This week we will be looking at the history of our government while looking closely at the format of the Constitution. You will learn about how compromise was a key factor in the creation of our federal government along with some of the events that led to specific Amendments that allowed our Constitution to adjust to our country as we grew and changed. Our Consitution os over 200 hundred years old and is often the format for other governments around the world. Why is it that a document created so long ago still works in a very modern world?
