17 days left to make a difference in learning and your grade! Treasure your final moments of your senior year and get the most out of your last days at North. You must realize you still have so much to impact on your grade and with your final. We begin our studies of the judicial branch and I know from past experiences many of you will get into the subject matter. With the popularity of movies and shows that deal with investigations and court cases there is a fascination with this specific branch of government. Feel free to ask questions, but also know that there may be times where the answers may not seem clear or we may have to look them up.
MONDAY 5/6--We will spend some of the class talking about Watergate and the powers of the presidency to wrap our study of the Executive branch. Many of you have asked what Watergate was about and why it was such a big deal to the country. Hopefully we can answer some of the questions you have asked. Pre-write on death penalty-write a paragraph about your thoughts on the use of the death penalty in the United States. Prompts and hints will be provided to address in your paragraph. We will then begin our work in the court system by looking at a case that took place in Indiana with an A & E presentation. We will finish this on Tuesday
TUESDAY 5/7--continued resource on Indiana death penalty case with writing conclusion. Death penalty writing paper will be due today worth 15 points. Articles on Wabash Valley man and organizations that help people on death row. Facts shared on death penalty and time to read chapter. Students should begin reading Chapters 18 and 19 for this unit. Pace yourself as there is a lot to read with some fascinating information.
WEDNESDAY 5/8--PowerPoints on sections 1 and 2. Students will be broken into groups to with scenarios to determine the outcome of the court cases. Real cases and results will be shared. Begin sharing of cases with continuation on Thursday.
THURSDAY 5/9--Go over sections 3 and 4 with finishing court cases in groups. Students will be given specific court cases to look up and learn for exam.
FRIDAY 5/10--Current events and What Would You Do? Allow time to go over court cases. Current Events reflection due.
