WELCOME BACK!!!
Get ready to learn about the 3 branches of government for the last 7 weeks of class! We will begin with Congress this week. Now is a great time to study Congress as they are working very hard on a variety of budget and legislative issues.
MONDAY 4/8--Reminder that your personal essays on voting/elections are due if you did not turn it in prior to break (which is a majority of you). For today we will ease into things with a high interest documentary on juveniles serving time in prisons. This documentary takes place in Indiana very close to home. It is a documentary that really got a lot of my students thinking about government and the legal system. You can write your current events journal on Friday about this movie if you choose.
TUESDAY 4/9--I will be out on Tuesday and Wednesday. You will be mainly using your time to work and focus on Congress and Chapter 10. Chapter 10 involves a lot of information and facts that need memorized. I find students do well on this chapter because the knowledge you will need is very clear to find and understand, but it will take some repetition and studying on your part. You will have specific worksheets and lessons to work on for the next two days. CNN student news will also be shown today and tomorrow.
WEDNESDAY 4/10--Continued work on Chapter 10 and current events. Be prepared for class discussion on Thursday as we will finish the chapter in the next two days. I will be collecting the work and worksheets for grades. You are to have them completed and be ready for discussion when I return on Thursday.
THURSDAY 4/11--Go over sections 1 and 2 on Congress with PowerPoint. Use small video clips about Congress to help clarify the information.
FRIDAY 4/12--Go over sections 3 and 4 on Congress with PowerPoint. Use small video clips about Congress to help clarify information. If we get through all of the information we will have a test over Chapter 10 on Monday. CURRENT EVENTS JOURNAL DUE
