Thank you to all of my students for your patience and great behavior during my absences last week. I truly hate to miss school and it makes it a little easier when I hear positive notes from the substitutes. I also hope you enjoyed our North alumnae speaking about her work with the Peace Corps on Tuesday. That being said we have some serious learning to do about the the election process in the United States! We will do some in class activities and look at some resources from the past election. I encourage all of you to try and be here (unless you have that nasty flu bug I had) because it will really help you understand the book material to see examples from our elections.
MONDAY--12/10 PowerPoint on Democrats and Republicans wrap up, finish up Chapter 5 discussion. Some highlights from past election.
TUESDAY--12/11 Continued highlights from past elections including debates, etc. Assign Chapter 6 to read--ALL sections! Go over Section 1 with class.
WEDNESDAY--12/12 More highlights from 2012 election and go over sections 2 and 3. Billboard Activity, how do we get people to vote? Due on FRIDAY
THURSDAY--12/13 Study section 4 and Voter Behavior, a look at Political Commercials and Tactics used in swaying voter behavior. TEST ON FRIDAY
Changes to original schedule...on Thursday we will go over Sections 1, 2, 3 in Ch 6 along with highlights from 2012 Election.
Friday we will look at Section 4 and Voter behavior, along with Political advertising. I did add a final slide to the powerpoint so make sure you have up to dat version.
TEST will be Monday the 17th on Ch 5/6--a study guide will be handed out on Thursday.
FRIDAY--12/14 Election Test, and Current Events
Also a note to remember, we try to be flexible with the schedule. If it takes us longer to get through the material due to student interests and discussion than test and assignment dates may need adjusted.
