MONDAY 9/9--September 11 Writing assignments to be turned in if you have not done so. CNN Student news. Introductions to voting and election process. Why do we vote and how do we form opinions? Brainstorm activity on what makes a Democrat or Republican on own, assess knowledge of issues with a pre-quiz. Allow class reading time to look at content words and objectives for sections 1 and 3.
TUESDAY 9/10--Handout PowerPoint slide packet. PowerPoint on Democrats and Republicans, finish up Chapter 5 discussion. Some highlights from past election clips.
WEDNESDAY 9/11--Continue going over Ch 5 information, watch video of Presidential Address.
THURSDAY 9/12-- Finish going over Ch 5 and start highlights from past elections including debates, etc. Assign Chapter 6 to read--ALL sections! FRIDAY--9/13 Go over Section 1 Chapter 6. More highlights from 2012 election and go over sections 2 and 3. Project assignment. Will be due 9/20. DAILY DOSE OF GOVERNMENT DUE!!!!

9/9--Describe how you picture yourself in the election process. Will you vote, volunteer, run for office? Why do you feel that way?
9/10--How does most of your generation feel about the government?
9/11--Do you feel our country is safer today since 9/11 or are we more at danger? Explain why you feel that way.
9/12--Make a prediction on the percentage of people that vote in our elections. Is that a good number and can we change how many participate?
