I want to take the time to communicate with all of you who may be supporting the students in my classroom. As a parent of 3 students in the Vigo County Schools I know how important it is for me to feel I have the ability to communicate with my sons' teachers. I welcome and encourage you to communicate with me. It could be anything from wanting to see how your student is performing to telling me that you had a great conversation about what was studied in class on a given day. Also if you feel there is something that I should be aware of as a teacher please contact me. I will work on posting helpful information to you about what we may be studying or big assignments that may be coming up in the future to assist you in helping your student.
I have three main guidelines in our classroom that I will be sharing with the students on the first day. Always try your hardest, respect those around you (and yourself), and come prepared. If your student is always trying their hardest by coming to schools, completing their assignments, and coming to class prepared they will most likely succeed in our class. Respect covers a lot of things, but I ask that respect be shown to all of those in the classroom. Education is our focus and it is important to understand that all students have a right to a peaceful and educational environment where they can learn and engage. Otherschool policies will be followed and enforced, but these are the main guidelines for the classes. If there are problems discussions will take place with the student and calls home to inform you of concerns will most likely take place. I also like to contact home with some positive comments to, so do not necessarily be alarmed if you see letter or message from me.
Please feel free to contact me through email (smt3@vigoschools.org) or through the main office at (812) 462-4312. If you contact me by phone know that it may take a day or so to get back in touch with you depending on when you call during the school day.
I look forward to getting to work with the students and all of those who support them everyday. Thanks for all that you do to help your students through the school year.
