This week we will study the waves of Immigration that impacted and changed our country during the late 1800s and the early 1900s. While we go over the material we will be watching the film Far and Away. This will be used along with lecture and book information to help create the letters you will write as if you were an immigrant during this era. While I know some of you will miss a few days of class this week due to ECA testing, I am confident that you will be able to do the assignment and learn the material with a variety of sources.
MONDAY 12/5--News sheet, Section 1 (Ellis Island) of Ch 7 with Far and Away (part of the film focusing on journey to America). Use of pictures with PP notes.
TUESDAY 12/6--News sheet, Section 2 (Life in the City), Far and Away (focus on lives of immigrants in the cities)
WEDNESDAY 12/7--News sheet, Section 3 (Politics of the City and the Immigrants), Far and Away (city politics/bosses)
THURSDAY 12/8--News sheet, finish film, work on letters, and Kahoot for test on Friday
FRIDAY 12/9--News sheet (due), Ch 7 Test-(vocab due), finish film if needed and start Ch 8 vocab
