In this episode I evaluated how I am doing with my key results that I set at the end of January (ep208) when I talked about objectives and key results. I talk through all of my key results and tell you how I am doing. Some are a green and a few are red. I also share this new cleaning idea I have that is working for me. I also mention how I do feel like a change is slowly happening in me. I am slowly becoming someone who enjoys the process of cleaning and decluttering her home!! How are your goals going so far this year? (Pardon my congested voice getting over a cold)
Show Notes: Hi Friends! I hope you enjoyed listening to this episode. Below are all the references.
What I learned this week: This week it was great to look back and evaluate what I have been doing and how it has been going. In the book, Measure what Matter by John Doer, evaluating without judgement is key to helping you with your objectives and key results. So as I looked by I went through to see how I was doing by giving each goal either a red (for not really started) a yellow (for started but not finished) and a green (accomplishing the goal)
So this is how it worked out for my goals for the past 6 weeks:
Here are my 5:
to declutter 3 times week for 30 minutes min.
Take 1 to 3 bags of items to donate or a few larger pieces of furniture to sell or donate each week
To tidy up for 10 minutes each night before scriptures.
Watch one or two videos to keep motivated and gain more ideas of ways to declutter weekly.
One of your 30 minutes decluttering session is in the dreaded storage room.
So to evaluate
Declutter 3 times a week - I haven’t been doing that - it has been more like once a week. So that would be a red
Take a bag a week to donate - well I have only done that two out of the six weeks - so that is another red for me.
Tidy up for 10 minutes - ok for me that has translated into make sure the dished are done at the end of the night and counters are wipes down and that I have definitely been keeping up with - so that is a green.
Watch videos - that is an easy one and another one I can say I have been doing at least once a week to keep me inspired - so that is a green.
And the last one - well that one I still have been avoiding. So that is another red.
A reminder from the book is that you are not supposed to accomplish all of your key results. They are supposed to stretch you and if you do get a green in all of them you need to make sure these goals really stretch a bit. The other part of the book about the key results that I like, is that if they are not working you are rework and change the key results to get to your objective. Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good. There are no perfect key results but there are a lot of good ways to get where you want tot go.
So I kept alot of my same goals but changed a few.
Here are my new goals for the next 6 weeks or so.
Clean up each night - do dishes wipe down counters and get kids to pick up somestuff.
Make a schedule of cleaning the reoccurs on your phone. Continue keeping up with said schedule.
Set aside time 3 days a week to declutter. Make one of those times to include the storage room.
Take items to donate or sell - once a week.
Watch one inspirational video each week. Try to implement a principle you find helpful.
I really felt like it was so good to look back and evaluate and really see what was holding me back with some of the things. Would recommend this. Now I am going to work on these next set of key results and see where I go from here.
