“The high school is totally looking out for me.” I am still a little bit obsessed with these principles from The Confident Mind by Dr. Nate Zinsser. So in this episode I share a few things that I have been doing in real life - actually trying to practice that is helping me. I have a new delusional thought as well as a way to watch basketball games that is way less stressful. And I have found a way to reflect on my week while at church partaking of the sacrament. Maybe these can help you too.

What I learned this week:
So I am still a bit obsessed with the principles so this week I am sharing a few ways that I have been using them.
First - you can totally enjoy a basketball game even better when you apply the shooter's mentality while you watch. It helped me be way less stressed and worked up. I just kept on thinking that the more they miss the closer they were to making the shot.
Second - It's ok to be delusional. With my substitute teaching I have come to believe that the high school is totally looking out for me. I usually get really easy assignments - even after I pick up an assignment I can get switched and each time it has been a really chill day with the students. So now that is my new delusional belief.
Third - I have also created a new cue for myself to help me as I enter the classroom. I still have the affirmation of "I am curious, creative and courageous" but when I enter the class I have a new cue which is "I own this classroom." So that helps me feel like I can take charge of the class.
and finally - I have used the idea of reflecting from last week and used some of these ideas as I ponder and partake of the sacrament in church every week. As I was pondering I think of the times during the week that I have been my best and then I reflect also on the times when I really wasn't myself. I also want to finish and have on my mind the way I want to be, remember when I have been my best.
There are so many great ways to use the tools given in this book to help you continue to gain your confidence each week.
