Episode 63: Burdens Made light - through Jesus Christ

Burdens made light - through Jesus christ - episode 63

“I see you.” After watching the show The Chosen I was struck with a poignant scene between Eden and Jesus. I share my thoughts on how Christ will ease burdens and tell of some times throughout my life where He has tried to make things just a little bit easier. It is a more spiritual episode and hopefully it inspires you to look and see ways that your burdens have been made light.

Show Notes: Hi Friends! I hope you enjoyed listening to this episode. Below are all the references.

Chosen, Season 1

episode 7&8

The scene that I mentioned starts at 1:22:30

Jesus: (Deep Breath) I told Simon to make sacrifices and leave things behind to follow me. You are one flesh with Simon. He cannot make sacrifices that are also yours. You have a role to play in all of this.

Eden: Do I?

Jesus: You will know in time. I can’t make everything about this easier for you.

Eden: That wouldn’t be our people’s way

Jesus: (Laughs) No. It has not been. Not will it continue to be. But I see you. You understand? I know it is not easy to be at home when your husband is out doing all of this. Even when you are excited about it and proud of him. So I wouldn’t ask you to do this without taking care of a few things.

From the new testament when Jesus heals Simon's mother in law.

Mark 1: 29-31

Mark 1:29 And forthwith, when they were come out of the synagogue, they entered into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.

30 But Simon’s wife’s mother lay sick of a fever, and aanon they tell him of her.

31 And he came and took her by the hand, and alifted her up; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered unto them.

Luke 4:38-39

38 ¶ And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon’s house. And Simon’s wife’s mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her.

39 And he stood over her, and arebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them.

“And I will also ease the burdens which are put upon your shoulders, that even you cannot feel them upon your backs” (Mosiah 24:14).

“And now it came to pass that the burdens which were laid upon Alma and his brethren were made light; yea, the Lord did strengthen them that they could bear up their burdens with ease, and they did submit cheerfully and with patience to all the will of the Lord” (Mosiah 24:15; emphasis added).
