“At some point in a story our brain waves can connect together.” Who doesn’t love a good story? I gave a talk in church and spoke about gathering to tell stories and wanted to really figure out why storytelling can be so compelling. And what I found out related back to my episode about my singing group(ep.91), a good story can release the same hormones, oxytocin and dopamine plus add to that some endorphins. I also share a couple of stories, both about dogs, as an example. So if you love stories as much as I do, listen and learn a little more as to why we can’t resist a good story.
Show Notes: Hi Friends! I hope you enjoyed listening to this episode. Below are all the references.
What I learned this week - I think my most favorite things was the TED talk I found titled the magical science of storytelling plus a couple others that I watched. I loved learning that when we hear a good story we can release the hormones oxytocin, endorphins and dopamine. Plus I love that similar to singing it is a way to feel connected to someone. Our brain waves can literally start syncing up. The other thing was we can connect both side of our brain when hearing a good story. I also loved learning that when you can also change the way you think about the past and reframe a story just by looking at it a little differently which can make all the difference. I do love a great story. Listed below are all of the TED talks and other articles that I read to get information for this episode.
This TED talk I didn't mention in the podcast but it is a funny story.
