“Exercise has been described as the miracle drug.” This week I share another thing that I love, exercise. I share a bit about how much I loved it when I was young and reflect on how that changed as I became an adult. I love how there are also so many different ways to move your body that you can find something that you like. I also share all the fabulous benefits of exercise, on the brain and the body. One of the great benefits I mention is better mental health and all the happy hormones that are released when you exercise. I share that even though I began exercising as an adult to lose weight, it has grown to this love because of how it helps me feel so much better each day.

What I learned this week: Exercise is so good for you. When I was younger I had so many things that I loved to do, just to have fun. My favorite was dancing and the trampoline. And it amazing how as I have grown up I have noticed how I then started doing it more to look better or lose weight and yet while doing that have gained a love for exercise all over again. And the best part is the exercise has such a great effect on your body and mind as well.
Acoording to Wendy Suzuki, in the TED talk below, exercise can help with your memory, your focus and while you are strenthening you muscles you are also strengthening you brain.
Then when you exercise you start creating more mitochondria in your cells which helps with both your energy and the way that your body uses fuel.
Exercise also helps with your mental health. "It releases good hormones Serotonin, endorphins, and a protein called Brain derived neurotrophic factor - BDNF - These hormones, helps reduce stress, improves mood, increases focus and sleep and leads to increased confidence."
There are so many great things and continuing to exercise throughout your life is important as it can delay the cogitive decline.
I also like the video that was saying that it is good for our children to participate in group sports. They learn how to work together, they can learn in real time the growth mindset as they get better at the sport and then they learn resilience when they lose and can gain more confidene as well.
