“PFC every 3” In this episode I am sharing a little bit about the things I have learned from my efforts to balance my blood sugar this year. I begin by talking a little about the things I have learned and also this problem that a majority of women have some sort of disordered eating. That we need to understand the simple principle of balancing our blood sugar. I also share what I eat on a typical day. I explain how I am learning to appreciate how my body functions more than how it looks. I will link to all the info of programs and books on my website under this episode.
Show Notes: Hi Friends! I hope you enjoyed listening to this episode. Below are all the references.
What I learned: So this year I share about my journey learning about balancing my blood sugar. I learned how doing that will balance your hormones and help in your overall health and as a bonus let go of added weight that you body does not need. I heard a statistic that over 70% of women have some sort of disordered eating which means that . “Disordered eating is defined as having an inappropriate obsession with food and your body, and the belief that food needs to be restricted or having a fear of food, in order to look a certain way.” (from Distruptive Nurtrition podcast). So we need to know that food is good, that we just need to understand a balanced way of fueling our bodies.
So I also share that we need to eat PFC every 3 or Protein, Carbs and Fat every 3 to 4 hours. Our body needs to refuel regularly.
I share a typical day of what I eat with this new PFC every 3.
Meal 1 - protein shake Meal 2- Eggs, veggies, 1 piece of toast and a few strawberries Meal 3- Greek yogurt and pecans or sometimes I eat a half turkey sandwich with either apples or carrots and a few nuts or I add some guac to my sandwich for my fat Meal 4 - Stir Fry - rice, steak, lots of veggies and general tso sauce. Meal 5 - a protein bar for a just before bed snack.
I feel really good most of the time. It took me a few months to get used to this way of eating but now I just feel so good that I really like it. I still have times when I eat cookies or ice cream but I don't crave it as much. And I also love using some of the hacks given by Glucose Revolution by Jessie Inchaspe that has also helped.
