Ingredients
4 c unsifted, all-purpose white flour
1/3 c baking powder
3 T sugar
2 t salt
1 c butter flavor or solid white shortening
1 c nonfat powder milk
4 c additional flour
Directions
1) Sift together 4 cups of white flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. This removes lumps and helps mix ingredients.
2) Cut in shortening with 2 knives, a pastry blender, or fingers until it looks like coarse oatmeal.
3) Stir in the dry powdered milk.
4) Sift, and stir in the 4 cups of remaining flour; mix well.
5) Store in a covered container at room temperature.
Use your mix with these quick recipes
For Biscuits:
Mix 2 c of Baking Mix with ½ c water. Bake at 425° F for 10-15 minutes.
For Muffins:
Mix 3 c of Baking Mix with 4 T sugar, 1 beaten egg, and 1 c milk or water. Bake at 400° F for 20 minutes.
For Pancakes:
Mix 2 c of baking mix with 1 beaten egg and 1 ¼ c of milk.
For Waffles:
Mix 2 c of Baking Mix with 1 beaten egg, 2 T oil, and 1 ¼ c milk.
