Ingredients
⅓ c margarine
⅓ c shortening
2 c all-purpose flour
1 egg
¾ c sugar
1 or 2 Tbsp of milk
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla
⅛ tsp salt
Directions
1) Beat margarine and shortening with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds.
2) Add about half of the flour, the egg, sugar, milk, baking powder, vanilla, and salt. Beat till thoroughly combined. Beat in remaining flour.
3) Divide dough in half; chill for 3 hours.
4) On a lightly floured surface, roll half of the dough at a time 1/8 in. thick. Cut into desired shapes with a 2 ½ -inch cookie cutter.
5) Place on an ungreased cookie sheet. If desired, sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
6) Bake at 375 degrees for 7 to 8 minutes, or till edges are firm and bottoms are lightly browned.
7) Cool cookies on a rack. If desired, frost cookies. If you are dipping cookies with the fondant glaze, cookies must be set for 24 hrs. before dipping.
