2 ½ yards of Flannel or Cotton material
1 Inch elastic

Directions
1) Measure the waistband around the waist, subtract 2 inches, and cut.
2) Measure your high waist to the floor. Write down measurement______
3) If your fabric is flannel or cotton iron it.
*If it is fleece do not iron.
4) Lay folded fabric out the long way with the wrong sides together.
5) Pin the front and back pattern to the fabric with the leg extension making the length you need for your measurement.
6) Cut the fabric out around the pattern while it is pinned.
7) Mark F on the top of the Front pieces, and B on top of the Back pieces.
8) Unpin the pattern from the fabric. Pin together and put away the pattern.
9) Place the front fabric pieces right sides together.
10) Remember when you sew, make sure the foot is against the edge of the fabric, Always start and stop with a backstitch!!
11) Pin and sew the top waist to the crotch on the front pieces.
12) If the fabric is flannel or cotton, iron seams down. *Do not iron if it is fleece fabric.
13) Repeat steps 10, 11 & 12 with the back pieces of fabric.
14) Lay out the fabric right sides together. (Back fabric on the bottom and Front fabric on top)
15) Pin and sew the side seams together.
16) If the fabric is flannel or cotton, iron seams down.
*Do not iron if it is fleece fabric.
17) Line up the crotch inseam and pin and sew each side of the inseam, sewing from the crotch to the bottom of the pants and then sew the other half of the crotch to the bottom of the pants.
18) If the fabric is flannel or cotton, iron seams down.
*Do not iron if it is fleece fabric.
19) Pull pants right side out.
20) Fold and Iron ½ inch, fold around the waistline (use seam gage).
*Pin fleece do not iron.
21) Fold, iron, and pin 1 ½ inch fold around the waistline (use seam gage). *Pin fleece, do not iron.
22) In the back waste seam, leave a 3-inch gap you will not sew, marking it with a double pin, for elastic to go through.
23) Pin and sew around the waistline
24) Push elastic through with a safety pin. Make sure the elastic is straight and sew together elastic ends (back and forth 3 items).
25) Sew up the 3-inch gap.
26) Sew/tack elastic down at each seam so elastic can't twist around.
27) Try on pants to measure where the hem should go (mark it with chalk).
28) Turn the pants inside out again.
29) To hem the bottom, Iron ½ inch hem. Then roll another 1-inch and Iron down.
*Pin fleece do not iron.
30) Sew the hem with the pressure foot against the rolled fabric at the top of the hem.
*Check for any threads before handing in. I will not grade a project that has loose threads hanging.
